I thought I'd out a link to my blog since it's mostly MiEV anyway.
http://everettpowered-evs.blogspot.com/

Recent stuff is on the JuiceBox EVSE, EVSEUpgrade and my battery ramblings.
There will of course be more. I'm not quiet...

Comments and suggestions are MOST welcome but would probably be best posted here since the comment system on the blog is kind of a pain.

Awesome blog. I'll subscribe!

Michael, very nice! I appreciated your candid common-sense battery discussion. About the Y cable - made one myself with some idiot lights - I'd add that it's always a good idea to first stick a simple three-light circuit tester into any 120v outlet to verify its polarity before subsequently poking around.

Oooo, maybe make the plugs with the kind that have the circuit tester built in? I like that idea. One slop shopping.

Hmmm, I should probably put an actual subscription box on the blog. Of course then I'd feel like I actually have to maintain it... ;)

You could drill a small hole in your twist-lock socket and install a small neon light attached to the hot pins. I would drill it in the center of the pins and glue the neon so it's recessed flush with the plug. Hook a 47K resistor on one leg for current limiting

If you plug your wye into a pair of 120 volt sockets which are using the same phase, your neon light won't light up, but if they are opposite phase sockets, it will. Then when you're using the cord, just keep plugging into different outlets until your light goes on and then plug in your Upgraded EVSE. Testing all the sockets beforehand with a circuit tester as Joe suggested is a *very* good idea

Do an eBay search for 'neon ne2' and you'll find the bulb cheap

Thanks for the reminder. I recall reading most of the way through that thread, Which I think starts at:

That does look like a better solution.
