There are some folks over here who have bought brand new ones for around $10K US

$30K base price, $10K discount direct from Mitsu, $7500 tax credit from the Feds, and $2500 to $3500 from some states/localities

LOL!!!

Australia... No tax credits, no subsidies, no incentives. Recomended retail price of $48,800 plus on road costs.

Some news ones are now advertised for $29000. So you should be able to understand my excitement for the used prices of $22000.

If it were $10000 we would have 4, just because we can. ;)

Yes, country of origin must be taken into consideration when comparing price. In Norway a new i-MiEV cost roughly USD 35.000,- That is after removal of all taxes, which is our incentive.

JoeS wrote:OK, so here's a question to see just how much redesign Mitsu did: the center-to-center dimension between the driver's and passenger's seat on the "oversized" NA version is exactly 23" (58.4cm). Would someone with a narrow iMiEV kindly measure yours and let's see if indeed this was changed to accommodate us, or is it simply the illusion of greater space by having the gap between the occupant and the door (to accommodate an airbag and better crash-safety)?

I just measured my Peugeot iOn front seat spacing - I measured the distance between the central groove on the backrests about 3/4 the way up, and it came out at 60cm. Where exactly are you measuring Joe (so I can try and measure the same dimension)?

Thanks misterbleepy, I measured from the center of the seatbacks (actually, between two matching headrest holes). Wow, as I had suspected, the occupant space of the wider NA iMiEV is an illusion, with only elbow room between the occupant and door being increased.

Could someone with an international model take a picture of your dashboard, most interested in the sides. I read one of the tricks the MMC engineers used to save costs was to use the same dashboard in the NA version but they added a spacer to make it fit. It's about 2" wide on the NA version which would equal the 4" width extension. That would also explain why JoeS doesn't feel comfortable resting his arm on the door. For me, I think the door is too tall to rest my arm on it, I just use the arm rest on the door.

Like Dylan...I went electric.

so how come my heating controls are in a horizontal line, but all the other pictures here have them in a vertical line - was that a model year change, or is it a LHD vs RHD thing?

I believe UK and AU spec triplets have horizontal heating control dash, Norway spec triplets have always had vertical heating control dash.
