Interesting, I also have a i-miev 2012 and I started getting charging issues 4 weeks ago ( at around 40k miles as well )
Charging stopped at 15/16 bars when I noticed the issue.

I went to Mitsubishi dealer 3 weeks ago, several times. They did several test and kept the car for several days. I am still waiting for the final decision to know if they will replace the battery pack or not.update:

At this point, I had roughly 35 km autonomy total, without using AC or heater...
Good news, the battery pack replacement got approved by the team in Japan. 3 days later the new battery pack arrived at the dealer location.
The replacement took 3.5 hours ( all under the guaranty, I had nothing to pay )

The dealer don't know if the new battery pack is brand new or refurbished. He confirmed that the warranty period is not reset though.
