After making this roundtrip for 3 months, I've figured out I need 12 bars to make it there and back. Therefore my question is this, is it better to fully charge and return with 4 bars or charge to 14 and return with 2 bars? Basically, which is the lesser of two evils, high SOC or low SOC assuming I can't charge during the course of this roundtrip, any thoughts?

oahumiev, in your situation I would always charge her up fully just before take off. The BMS is quite capable of taking care of the battery pack at either end, but you never know when an unexpected detour might cause you to put on a few more miles. Using your terminology, the much bigger evil is low SOC, as a high peak current at low SOC can be stressful to the battery pack (although the BMS should prevent that from happening).
