does Kill-a-watt or a competitor make a meter for 240V? I'd like to monitor daily and total energy consumption for the i over time.

I also would be interested in one of those, if it exists. In the meantime, I picked up a simple watthourmeter (actually, kilowatthourmeter) on eBay and combined it with a spring-wound timer to shut off my iMiEV's charging before it's fully charged. See this thread posting: http://myimiev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2910#p2910
The meter is continuous (with no reset) and retains its number in memory when power is turned off. Good reading correlation with my T.E.D. system.

Incidentally, I would recommend T.E.D. (The Energy Detective) if you can't find a Kill-A-Watt equivalent. It's a bit pricy but stores quite a bit of information and displays power, energy, and voltage on a computer in second, minute, hour, day, and month increments. I'd get at least three sensors: one for the car circuit, one for your PV system, and one for the entire house. http://www.theenergydetective.com/homeowner

This might do what you want. Blake

Certainly cheap enough and the shipping is free

You'd need to put a matching socket in your wall outlet and then make a pigtail which your EVSE plugs into and which will fit the meter

A couple of technical points about this meter:

1) If I recall, the Australian and Kiwi 240vac system pinout is like our 120vac: one line is hot, the other is neutral and the third is ground. Our US/Canadian 240vac single phase connector pinouts are two hots (with 240vac between the hots) and a ground or neutral. This meter might not like two 'hots'... :(
2) Frequency is not specified and Australia uses 50Hz.

I sailed quite a bit in Aus/NZ waters and still have a bunch of their plugs and sockets lying around here so, Blake, if you still want to try this meter I can give you the connectors to play with. Just promise not to fry yourself.

Looks like you're 100% correct Joe

Rather than 2 hots and a neutral like we have, they have an 'Active', a Neutral and an 'Earth'

Doesn't appear this meter would be compatible for North America

This one will work here . . . . but it's over $100 with shipping

The one I bought had an eBay number of 170850363518
$20.42
Limited value as all it does is accumulate kWhrs, but suitable for me as all I wanted to do is measure what I put into my iMiEV when I go visit friends.

Here's a 240 VAC meter with similar performance of the Kill-a-Watt. Instead of using sockets, the two hots pass through the device with only screw taps integrated to power the device. Data logging to a computer is available through adapters and even LAN and internet. Of course, the display also scrolls through various counters. Also, it can measure reverse kWh, so you can get a second meter to hook in-line with your solar panel inverter output. The computer software ($30 with reduced functionality trial) can generate monthly reports.

That looks like the same exact meter as the one I posted in the eBay link above . . . . except it's $50 more expensive
