How did you 'check' the 12 volt battery?

How old is it?

Should still be good if it's only a year and a half old . . . . but, problems like you're describing are frequently caused by a weak battery or one with poor connections.

What problems (if any) did you experience a year and a half ago that caused you to replace the battery?

If it's the original OEM flooded lead acid battery perhaps check the water level in the cells.
