Hi guys need help with my 2014 Mitsubishi I-miev

Wed Jun 14, 2017 8:15 pm

The car does not start or getting charge some warning lights on dash, both batteries were empty I charge 12 volt battery and it's good but main battery is not charging. I use scanner to scan for the codes and give you five codes
Here is the list of codes
1)P1b2f BMU battery pack miss match
2)P1ae6 EEPROM fail BMU
3)P1a39 charge state signal err or BMU
4)p1a38 cell number error BMU
5)p0abf battery current sensor BMU
Any idea what it could be I'll prescient for the help.
Thank You

2014miev, welcome to the forum. Sorry that you have a non-working i-MiEV.
Thank you for the error codes, but could you perhaps provide us a bit more information -

North American or European/Australian/Japanese version?
What is the history of this i-MiEV?
Are you perhaps attempting to revive a wreck/salvage vehicle?
Had the battery pack or BMU been replaced?
What instrumentation did you use to extract the error codes?
When you say the main battery pack was 'empty', what is its depleted voltage?

The Mitsubishi software interlocks have proven to make life quite difficult.
We would like to try to help and thus we can all learn at the same time.

Wish you all the best.

NB! Perhaps one of the moderators will split this and the previous post into a new thread due to the complexity?

Welcome aboard, 2014miev. Are you sure you are "prescient"? :geek: :?
(Just joking, english ain't my native language either. )

 Some MMC Abb's:
WM - Workshop Manual
TIM - Technical Information Manual
BPM - Body Repair Manual
BMU - BATTERY MANAGEMENT UNIT (BMU)
CMU - MAIN BATTERY AND CELL MONITORING UNIT (CMU)

Beware which Model Year (MY) you pick. There are some differences in the charts.

 I begin with a couple of tools from the (from: WM, MY13:

:!: *CAUTION* If there is any problem in the CAN bus lines, an incorrect diagnosis code may be set. Prior to this diagnosis, always diagnose the CAN bus lines.
:?: Have you checked and cleared the CAN bus for any faults?

Error list:
  1. P0ABF Code No. P0ABF: Battery current sensor error (BMU)
  2. P1A38 Code No. P1A38: CMU operation count error (BMU)
  3. P1A39 Code No. P1A39: Charging state signal error (BMU)
  4. P1AE6 Code No. P1AE6: EEPROM error (BMU)
  5. P1B2F Code No.P1B2F: BMU battery pack type inappropriate

So far, so good.

Breakdown of the codes:
  1. Code No. P0ABF: Battery current sensor error (BMU)
    is
    • indicating
      • Malfunction of the BMU traction battery current sensor system
    • triggered by
      • P1A40 Traction battery current sensor (high) abnormal
      • P1A41 Traction battery current sensor (low) abnormal
      • P1A42 Power supply circuit of traction battery current sensor abnormal
      • P1A43 Detection circuit of traction battery current sensor abnormal
  2. Code No. P1A38: CMU operation count error (BMU)
    is
  3. Code No. P1A39: Charging state signal error (BMU)
    is
    • indicating
      • a big bag of other DTC's.. (37)
      • malfunction of the BMU traction battery system
    • triggered by
      • P1A40 Traction battery current sensor (high) abnormal
      • P1A52-P1A5D CMU01-12 battery cell low voltage abnormal
      • P1A5E-P1A69 CMU01-12 battery cell high voltage abnormal
      • P1A76-P1A81 CMU01-12 battery cell voltage sensor abnormal
  4. Code No. P1AE6: EEPROM error (BMU)
    is
  5. Code No.P1B2F: BMU battery pack type inappropriate
    is
    • indicating
      • Malfunction of the BMU system
    • triggered by
      • P1AAB Numbers of cells abnormal (broken URL (P1AA8))

This post has already grown too big, so from here you are on your own. Before I leave, I'll link to two documents in the Technical Information Manual (TIM):

They hide under TIM\
\54D-ELECTRIC MOTOR UNIT AND MAIN BATTERY
\\BATTERY MANAGEMENT UNIT (BMU) AND MAIN BATTERY

I wish you godspeed on your journey and perhaps you'll will tag along with some jolly good friends from this wonderful community. I hereby hand the baton to the forum crowd.

PS! I see JoeS just posted "less than a minute ago". He has some good questions to be answered.
