Hope I'm not reviving a thread that's too old. Wanted to post in case there are others still dealing with the airbag recall. Or in case anyone that did this has some tips
We have a 2012 iMiEV. Our closest Mitsubishi dealer is now 190+ miles away (Dealer is West Mitsubishi in Orland, CA. We live in Eureka, CA.).
I called the Mitsubishi number 888-648-7820 about a week ago to get information about the airbag repair.
So far the communication has been good. They keep calling me back to let me know they're still working on it or to ask more questions, e.g. are you sure you can't drive it there with the range you have? (Hahhaa no, we can't take a week off work and keep staying in hotels to get there).
On the last call, Mitsubishi Corporate said management had approved transporting our car, but the dealership is closed/busy due to the holidays, so Mitsubishi Corporate will call us back in 2019.
Seems promising. I know other people have had problems with the dealership not having parts in stock, so I want to make sure they verify that before they take our iMiEV.
Since we'll be lucky enough to have our iMiEV at a dealership, I also want to see if we can pay them to do an inspection / general maintenance--but I need to research that more because I'm not sure what I should ask about.
