Banging Noise

Hi I've noticed after starting and driving car particularly first thing in the morning as soon as I drive off I hear a little bang. The car runs fine, but is this normal, and what is the reason for it? Andy

It could be the ABS system doing a self-test - check out this thread:

My iOn does this too, making a "clunk" kind of noise within the first few yards of travel.

Oh, I remember it.

It reminds me of our old ICE car. Sometimes it would not have enough power to start the engine, most likely after rolling down hill and breaking finally, without the engine running. Solved when the vacuum pump was changed.

That sound of an angry child with a tin drum ...

Now it is electric and the reservoir is only pumped after using. I have heard it while driving too but very rarely and mostly hidden behind other sounds.

Many thanks for for links to thread. I should have said Clunk rather than Bang. Andy
