Right - a fair idiomatic translation might be to call it the "coffee break" or "tea time" charger. It's an intuitive way of communicating the charge times it offers - clever.

Unfortunately, it's only clever in Japanese. I wish they'd given it a better moniker for English-language markets, something like ECAF (rhymes with "decaf," reverse engineer the acronym of your choice). CHAdeMO sounds peculiar to an American ear, and the semi-random capitalization doesn't help. Such lack of pizzazz, along with the failure of Japanese manufacturers to maximize the installed base by making it a standard feature of their EVs (as it is in Canada), plus the uncertainties surrounding competition with the rival not-quite-ready J1772-based CCS (especially if EV sales continue at the current trickle), don't bode well for more widespread availability in the years to come. We'll see.
