Hydro-Quebec, one of Canada's largest hydro companies, is deploying 15 Mitsubishi I-miev electric vehicles to businesses in the suburbs of Montreal. The government owned utility states that this is the second phase of a larger program that begain in April 2010.The plan hopes to progress electric vehicle adaption in the Montreal region.Hydro-Quebec produces a large amount of energy from hydro stations so the energy used to charge the Mitsubishi I-miev is cleaner than coal power.
The 16kwh battery pack in the Mitsubishi I-miev gives the car an 85 mile range and a top speed of 80 miles per hour. Businesses that receive one of the 15 I-mievs will be testing charging habits, satisfaction and driving habits specifically in relation to a smart grid set up in Quebec.
