EvoIII looks more like a proper race car than the first attempt- a doorstop with a parasitic iMiEV bursting through the top! :p

I have a bit of a back story as to why the Fit EV beat the Tesla Roadster. Here is a cut and paste from another forum member:

"I'd like to know what happened with the Tesla. It was 15 seconds quicker [than the Fit EV] on the 1st stage, 9 on the second, 11 slower on the third, and 15 slower on the 4th. At REFUEL in 2011 the Tesla Roadsters (and the MINI E) were fast the first 2-3 laps, then would overheat and slow down or retire. LEAF ran cool the whole session (as did the Fit EV last year). I think cooling won the day."

That actually doesn't surprise me. The Roadsters have forced air cooling the motor (yet a liquid cooled battery and PEM), and the LEAF has liquid cooled motor and controller, yet no cooling on the battery. Not to mention the Roadster's motor is 3 times more powerful than the LEAF's.

The i-MiEV has a liquid cooled motor and controller, and the option of air cooling on the battery (for those of us lucky enough to have cold weather/CHAdeMO packages, or the 2014 model). :mrgreen:
