Also leaving the LEAF way behind!
:p

Looks like the MiEV Evo II cars were less than 10 seconds faster than last years i-MiEV Evo car. Mitsubishi must be a bit disappointed
coming in second in the electric car class again. Did they overdo the battery capacity and add too much weight?

Awww I just saw some video of a MiEV Evo II run, looks like the track was wet for their run on race day?

On dry surfaces, Mitsubishi beat everyone during the qualifying trials. The weather obviously had a lot to do with it.

Here's the best article/video I've found thus far, please post anything better.

Here's the final standings. two of six electrics DNF (crashed), the other four were in the top 16 overall (out of 143 vehicles).

Monster Tajima's victorious e-Runner is sponsored by Mitsu Heavy Industries, what's the drivetrain?

"We were told the two Mitsubishis encountered a lot of rain, but we don't yet have the full story on why two cars that were topping the field during practice days fell 40 seconds behind on race day."

Not a level playing field, as a wet surface is dramatically different than a dry one, especially if the cars were set up for dry.

That said, Sébastien Loeb's run of 8:13 in a Peugeot (on a dry surface) was fantastic. Shows the class of driver and vehicle on the international rally circuit.

I can't say I'm too unhappy with the 208 T16 victory, my ICE car is a Peugeot (505GTI Wagon).
I consider the i-MiEV an honorary Peugeot too because of the Ion :).

Thanks for a great link, Joe.
My favorite description of the weather follows (though don't all Camaros shake?):

Jerad Voight in the No. 77 Chevrolet Camaro SS RS who came 12th in class, 108th overall, said it was raining up to the Ws, a set of switchbacks that begins seven miles into the race, then it was fog so bad he couldn't see more than 60 feet, "After the fog it was snow, Devil's playground was hail, just past that it was rain and then heavy winds on the last section – I could feel it shaking the car." When we asked what was the weather report he was given at the start line, he laughed and told us, "They said there was a sprinkle at Engineer's Corner."

Just another little tidbit, at the other end of the performance curve - from: http://insideevs.com/nobuhiro-monst...tional-hill-climb-places-5th-overall-wvideos/

"Roy Richards took a HondaFitEV on the peak and set a time of 17:30.614. What is interesting is that this result is weaker than that obtained in 2012 by Beccy Gordon in a modified Mitsubishi i-MiEV (15:10.557)".

That was NOT a modified iMiEV Beccy drove last year, but a stock car with, I believe, the only change being tire pressure.

I wonder if the HondaFitEV was also affected by the rain?
