It SOUNDS like it's only an issue with recent domestic batteries in Japan. Hopefully that's the case.

Since the process change, Mitsubishi as shipped 45 units equipped with the same battery to corporate fleets and 68 units to the domestic market as spare parts.

Let's not overreact! From what I've read, Mitsubishi has sold 68 i-MiEV's since the production change that is thought to be responsible for the apparent battery pack defect. This is out of 33,000 i-MiEV's produced. And the i-MiEV's with potentially defective battery packs were recently manufactured, so none of them would likely have been imported to the U.S. where there are only 2012 models.

Mitsubishi's new plug-in hybrid SUV seems to have been the recipient of almost all of these potentially defective battery packs.

Mitsubishi seems to doing the right thing by halting the production of i-MiEV's while its investigation proceeds.

I *think* their recent domestic iMiEV's were all getting a slightly smaller, SCiB battery pack, which we've never seen on this side of the pond. At any rate, their 'Do Not Drive' warning doesn't seem to apply to our cars here

Another article on this yesterday. As stated it doesn't sound like its a problem outside of Japan.
