Solar, Wind, and Hydro power the country entirely for 107 hours. Impressive!

It depends on the weather. When rains a lot, and wind is strong for many hours, then wind and hidro do the job. Solar is not an important source of power, in this winter like days. I-MiEV are not very common here and VE not very popular.

This is not as simple as it seems. In fact, in the end we have to pay more for this kind of energy. Some deals made by the government with wind power producers may not be made in the best interest to the Portuguese people. Most of this deals where made by a former prime minister that may be blamed by corruption this year. Is name is José Sócrates, also known as Pinoquio.

In the same period the UK ran almost exclusively on coal and natural gas, but that would not be advertised.

Actually for that period in the UK the percentage split was:

Code:
coal nuclear ccgt wind french_ict dutch_ict irish_ict ew_ict pumped hydro oil ocgt other
3.93 23.15 46.18 9.12 6.02 1.35 0.15 0.11 1.30 0.92 0.00 0.01 7.00

Numbers from here: http://www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk/ (which says the wind contribution is actually more than that due to a number of wind turbines being unmetered, and thus the power they generate is shown as a drop in demand)
