Montreal to Quebec city fast Charge Network

Fri Sep 26, 2014 11:56 am

We heard about it, hope for some fast chargers and now something is finally happening.
:D
" The Québec-Montréal Electric Charging Corridor will be the first fast-charging corridor in Québec"

http://news.hydroquebec.com/en/press-releases/650/quebec-inaugurates-the-first-location-of-the-quebec-montreal-electric-charging-corridor/
:D
The first of 7 is being inaugurated today, all 7 to be operable this fall.

Still doesn't help me for my location, but it's a move in the right direction .
Who know, I 'll probably make a few trips to Quebec City for the fun of it once they are installed.

I was so happy when I read the e-mail from Circuit Électric this morning - I was in disbelief !
So happy the projects wasn't canned after all.

Ok I'm going to get on my soap box for this post, so my apologies in advance.

I am in full support of the installation of fast chargers by the Cirquit Electrique but seriously question as usefulness or importance of the placement of this corridor between Quebec city and Montreal. I'm sure they have done a study.

In my non expert opinion

I would have preferred to see a Spiders web of High speed chargers surrounding the major cities along the main highway arteries.
These strategically placed, so that the Daily Commuter would have access and the option to SWITCH to an EV with out having to depend on charging at the work place .

This advantage would also work in reverse & open the doors for a city dweller with an EV, making it more affordable to venture further out to the country side to enjoy various sports or events, eg. skiing, golfing, water parks, Spa resorts, camping, beaches, etc.

The savings of fuel for an ice could be enjoyed at these facilities and these rural businesses could enjoy some growth.

Another bit of good news
We have a second fast charger now located in the city of Montreal - near the corner Berrie & Mount Royal, where the commune autos are parked - much better and usable location.

Things are looking up.

Great news :D
All the fast chargers are now operating between
Montreal & Quebec city .
located at a maximum distance of 65 km between stations.
However there is no fast charger located in Quebec city yet - only L2 :?

And YES (most important for me) On the North of Montreal route 15
There now appears a fast charger station on Plugshare in Mirabel.
It's located on boulevard Versailles, Mirabel, in the Tim Horton's parking lot,
near the new Premium Outlets shopping center.
:D :D :D
Last time I was there it was only a concrete base and painted green parking spot - have to verify if it's in operation.

My First EV Road Trip Happened
With the help of the Fast charging network opening a corridor from Montreal to Quebec.
625 Km ( 388 miles) in 15 hours

Here are the detailed Legs of the trip that I was able to to record

We kept things conservative & did not try to push for speed or try to travel too far on a single charge.
Especially since we had never been to these charge locations before.

Might help a fellow EV driver if they plan to travel this corridor.
I took some short video clips and will try to edit and put them a link at a later time.
