Re: 12 Volt Source Behind Glovebox??

Backup camera or dashcam? I'm running a dashcam and GPS and Android tablet and some USB ports off a multi-port set of outlets, all plugged into that poor 'cigarette lighter' outlet. Ugly, but it works. I have a dashcam plugged into the outlet. I had wired the back-up cam to a blue wire on the heate...

12 Volt Source Behind Glovebox??

There must be a wire somewhere there I can use as a 12 volt source to power a back-up camera - Anyone know what color wire to look for?

Thanks!

Re: Ev Trucks

They've a;ready taken about 500 reservations at $20K a pop, so it's pretty obvious several companies (UPS, WalMart, Budwieser etc) think it will work for them, even without a national recharging network When most of us think about semi trucks, we automatically think cross country trucking, but that'...

Re: EV prices in the next 3 years.

It’s about $2/hour for L2 and around $15 for L3 here(more in winter due to slow charging). Not worth it for the MIEV unless you’re desperate As someone who has never paid a nickel to recharge anywhere in the nearly 6 years we've been EV driving, my opinion may not mean much  I think for the fo...

Re: Any noticeable benefits of replacing bulbs with LEDs?

A few have done it - There are threads here on the forum as to what they did and what bulbs they used

Theoretically, it should give you *maybe* a quarter mile of extra range. The power used by the OEM lights is very miniscule when compared to the power the motor uses

Re: Range and Charging Observations and Questions

Sounds like you're learning to drive the car ;) - It took all of us some time when we got our first EV We have a saying around here that "The range is whatever you need it to be" which means the driver can control how far the car will go by turning off the climate controls if necessary, an...

Re: What tire would you recommend?

Well, since you've 'eased up a bit' on what you consider important . . . . and since you live on a twisty road that can be fun to drive . . . . and since you *like* to push the car a bit on those fun roads . . . . and since you're obviously getting tired of buying new tires every 20,000 miles, it ma...

Re: EV prices in the next 3 years.

Several European vehicle manufacturers of high performance sports cars, coupes and sedans identify that "under no circumstances should tires older than 6 years be used" in their vehicle owner's manual. However, it should be noted that European recommendations must include driving conditio...

Re: EV prices in the next 3 years.

The other thing I would add, is that my observations in a city like London, are that I see most people buying a small EV as a 2nd car for local driving (which ends up being used for about 90%+ journeys) - and that practice does not require a particularly large range, when a conventional car can the...

Re: EV prices in the next 3 years.

I think the 'better, cheaper battery' discount on the iMiEV happened between the 2012 model and the 2014 when the sticker price went down about $10K There are some great prices out there for used ones - I've seen them as low as $4500 to $5K with reasonable miles. I bought a 2012 SE Premium in pretty...
