Re: Want one, but cautious. Opinions please.

The Red one must have been a repaint - They never came in that color in North America Our original car we bought brand new didn't have CHAdeMo (it would have been about $3500 more) and when we were shopping for a second one coming off lease a couple years later, we didn't even consider any cars whic...

Re: Want one, but cautious. Opinions please.

I would not limit my searches to *only* 2014 models. You will still occasionally run across very low mileage 2012's out there (10,000 miles or so) and buying one of those for $5K to $6K would be a very safe investment for a first EV I think - The car has been around for 5 years, has very few miles, ...

Re: Want one, but cautious. Opinions please.

All used cars are a bit of a gamble - Some have a better history than others, so they are less of a gamble. IMO, the iMiEV is one of those I guess it all comes down to what you need the vehicle to do. IMO, there's not much similarity between the iMiEV and the Smart ED. One is a true 'car' and can do...

Re: Hatched a Tesla

Great collage of charging experiences Joe and it goes to show that a well prepared EV driver can go virtually anywhere these days and with minimal inconvenience Your night at the Blue Swallow in Tucumcari really brought back some memories! We stayed there on our Route 66 trip which we did in our Mia...

Re: What's the WORST range you've gotten

... if I would keep going full speed on the freeway I would drain the battery in less than 25 miles, whereas my excel predicts 40 miles. That's a huge difference!... Yup, sounds about right. Full speed = 81mph, and at that speed the drag force is enormous! If I have learned anything new driving EV'...

Re: 2012 miev ZERO battery degradation

The battery looks great - Very well balanced, however that page doesn't show you *anything* about it's capacity. As mentioned earlier, all fully functional batteries (no matter how much capacity they may have lost) will charge to '100%'

Re: Not Charging. Main Inverter Fuse blown

I believe we had a recall for some USA models to replace the MCU - Maybe these problems are what led to that recall??

Re: Want one, but cautious. Opinions please.

The factory battery warranty was 8 years or 100,000 miles and they extended that to 10 years in 2014 for all cars. True, it only covers a pack failure and they are fairly rare, but the degradation rally hasn't proven to be a major issue - It may be up to 30% by the time you have 100K on it, but an i...

Re: Want one, but cautious. Opinions please.

Welcome to the forum! - There's lots to read here and much of that will address your worries pretty well I think IMO, the time to be cautious was back in 2012 when we first adopters forked over $30K+ on a completely unknown quantity. I think the car has pretty much proven itself since then The batte...

Re: Anyone tried wrapping iMiev with glossy vinyl?

You know, after all good words that you said about the color I looked at my iMiev and now it does not seem that dull to me. You know, white is also not that bad. Though I believe, that small cars have to be bright, otherwise they do not attract attention because of their small size. I used to have ...
