Re: A New Tire For Us!

Update on the Achilles rear tires. After a very dry August, Seattle has finally received some real rain, and I'll report that the Achilles wet traction is definitely worse than the Dunlop EnaSaves, at least when aired up to 40 psi. Full power from stop going around a wet corner will induce significa...

Finally built my solar range trailer !

It might not be very practical for i-MiEV range extension but I just couldn’t resist setting up MR BEAN at the National Drive Electric Week car show on Saturday in the manner that would elicit the most attention. Some actually believed that I do tow in the manner demonstrated in the following video....

Re: Battery temperature management

I own a 2017 MiEV, has the Battery temperature management system changed from an AC/ fan to a liquid pump, pumping coolant through the battery pack? I ask this because when I charge my MiEV, I do not hear the AC fan system running as I do for the 2016 models, but instead hear a small water pump and...

Re: Any tips to damaging the main battery?

Haha, you dirty dog, trying to push a cell over the edge, are you? That's quite a gamble, but if I were a gambler, I'd drive into the turtle EVery time and then DCFC only, with no nice n long balancing recharges. Of course, the dealer should try a full L1 recharge if you come in complainin...

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC), DC-DC Converter

Just for testing, I used a standard 20 AMP fuse 240v rated in an INLINE fuse holder that I bought from Altronics. ... I also kept a fire extinguisher handy in case the fuse holder melts since the fuse and the holder are not rated to 450v, and I was just doing this during a test ;-) For testing purp...

Re: Ultra cold weather range

Many charts are available online showing LiFePO4 discharge curves at various temperatures, showing between 20% and 60% capacity loss at super low temperatures. I think that your range will be impacted by at least 40% at -30 Celcius. Heating the battery up to room temperature would be the best guaran...

Our local rec center also has an electric Zamboni, but I hadn't thought of that as the basis of an appeal to install EVSE, thanks!
