Re: Solar charging - what size/type inverter, etc?

Received my new Xantrex 2000 watt ProWatt Inverter today. Have attempted to charge the car again. It acts like it wants to, and starts to charge, but then faults and the built-in GCFI outlet trips each time. So I'm going to attempt to wire up the 2nd plug in as describe above, and try again. I have...

Re: How to 500W Charging?

If you're still concerned about the battery, I think you could build some sort of switch which would cycle the inverter on for 1 minute, off for 1 minute and then repeat for hours and hours - This would greatly limit the battery heating and the battery would live longer doing this than continuously...

EPA range of 110 miles
6.6 KW or larger charger
Regen brake lights
Cruise control

Energy efficient heat pump heater
Better insulated cabin
Battery heating/cooling system (not air)

Re: Our Gas Free Miles Travelled

The odometer on "Silver" hit 40,000 miles today, after a little over 32 months of driving. At this rate, "Silver" will reach 100,000 miles and end its battery warranty at 6 years and 8 months. I would like to get the full 8 years out of the battery warranty, so today we started u...

Re: Charging on the move

Forum member siai47 was able to charge with the car in the "ready" position by connecting a dc charger to the quick charge cables and manually switching the quick charge relays located under the back seat. Using his method you could charge while driving, but you would need a power source t...

I already have two. I posted it because I thought there might be some interest from the large population on the East Coast.

Re: Solar charging - what size/type inverter, etc?

Over the years we've had some discussions on this very topic. Here's a link which references the exact plug mod procedure identified on the Leaf forum: http://myimiev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1446#p1446 I see. The resistors provide continuity between the hot, neutral and ground, but very little cu...

Re: Solar charging - what size/type inverter, etc?

I have successfully used inexpensive non-sine-wave inverters off both 12vdc and 48vdc into both 120vac and 240vac, inserting modified plugs (see the Leaf forum) into the second outlet of each inverter to ensure GFCI compatibility without letting any smoke out. Using EVSEUpgrade.com modified Mitsu (...

Re: Gearbox problems.

The gas powered Mitsubishi i was sold in Europe in 2007. The electric powered i MiEV was not sold to the public in the UK until 2011. These gearbox problems must be with the gas powered i.
