Re: FYI brake vacuum pump recall for early 2020

*If* the new brake vacuum pump fixes your brake warning light issue, I would jump all over MMNA to get back the $380 you already paid to have the issue fixed . . . . and bitch real loudly that it's also cost you the use of the car for a year. No doubt in my mind you can get them to refund the $380 t...

Re: additional electric heater

I just don't see any 12 volt heater as being very practical. The OEM heating element is over 4Kw and even a 1Kw 12 volt heating element would draw about 100 amps from a 12 volt source . . . . and using only 1Kw isn't going to get you a meaningful amount of heat, let alone defrost - It might take a l...

Re: I Just Noticed That The Ammeter Moves When The Heater Is Turned ON

The heater cuts into your max range by about 25 to 35%, depending on how cold it is. Once the car warms up a bit, it uses far less current, just switching on and off to keep the inside temp comfortable. The A/C uses about half as much, 15 to 20% depending If you live in a cold climate where you'll n...

Re: I Just Noticed That The Ammeter Moves When The Heater Is Turned ON

If the full charge RR were 105 km. that would imply that the car could be driven for approximately 3 hours with a 12 A current drain and a 105 km. (63 mi.) range. The ammeter shows every bit of current coming from the traction battery, not just that of the motor and the heater. Most other draws fro...

Re: My least favorite feature

It's not really a 'transmission' in the sense we use that word in automotive applications. It's a fixed gear reduction where the motor is directly connected to the wheels 100% of the time - No neutral, no reverse, no changing 'gears' in any way. The creep you don't like is not function of the transm...

Re: Always on lighter/12v port - Charging battery banks

I'm still leaning to the front connection....I guess at 20A since your reasoning makes sense, but wouldn't the 15A breaker trip from a load on that rear end before the wire melts? Yes, fuses protect the wiring - If you run a wire from a positive source at the front of a car (maybe directly to the b...

Re: Need a longer range ev

I would advise you to install a solar roof in your car. A solar kit can be installed on virtually any type of car, but it is easiest to convert an electric vehicle to run on solar power. If you intend to use solar panels to power a standard gas-powered car, this will be more complicated. You can't ...

. . . . . "Oh, it's cold outside. Thanks, I knew that." Yep, I noticed before I got in the car . . . . and waiting for the car to confirm it never bothers me in the least "Least favorite feature" and that's the best you could come up with??? - You must REALLY love the car! Don
