Re: i-Miev Battery Cell Testing

I think in most cases, a 'bad' pack stops functioning because of just 1 or 2 cells, so your 8 pack of replacements may be all you'll need to get the car back on the road

Re: new owner question

The caster adjustment is what causes the steering wheel to return to a straight line when you release the wheel - Something else to check if you decide to get a wheel alignment to check the toe adjustment In a toe out condition, each front tire is slightly pointed away from straight ahead and the ca...

Re: OpenEVSE

I built an Open EVSE from scratch 5 years ago - Ordered the main board from them and bought all the pieces myself elsewhere. Mounted it all in a small waterproof plastic camera case. It has charged our two iMiEV's most days ever since. Doesn't have most of the features your new one has, but it's bee...

Re: new owner question

Welcome to the forum! Sounds to me as though maybe your car has a bit of toe out - That can cause what you're describing. Run the palm of your had across the tread on your front tires both ways. If they are wearing properly, there should be no difference in feel from either direction. If you feel an...

Re: Aftermarket Wheels

Yes, those are the stock alloy wheels for the 2012 North American SE and SE Premium editions of the iMiEV. The ES model came with steel wheels and plastic wheel covers

Re: Options for repairs when service is now sparce and distant?

I'm in the same boat. Our local Mitsu dealer was only 10 miles away, but he closed a year or two after we bought our first one. Now the closest dealer who services EV's is in Pensacola, 110 miles away. Like you, I raised enough ruckus with Mitsu that when we needed warranty work, they trucked both c...

Re: Will not preheat when fully charged.

The remote is at best - to be kind - sorta flakey. It amazes me that a company built a car as well sorted out as this one and the same company was somehow responsible for the remote they sent with it - Maybe they turned that project over to a junior engineer who wasn't allowed to touch anything when...

Re: Will not preheat when fully charged.

I *thought* is did preheat when the battery was full - It's been years since I used it though, so my memory may be wrong. If you're preheating with the OEM Panasonic 8 amp EVSE, it doesn't hardly get warm if you do it while the car IS charging, I do know that - The car uses most of those 8 amps and ...

Re: Aftermarket Wheels

Great find!! Those are much nicer looking wheels (IMO) than the factory alloys that came on the North American version of the iMiEV

Re: Neutrik Powercon True 1 connectors

For all the folks using extension cords - look online at voltage drop calculators and try to keep it to no more than a 5% drop. This can be figured out with the extension length & gauge, and amps load. And then there's de-rating for things like running across a hot asphalt parking lot... Also, ...
