Re: Add another OBC Failure

Well, there’s been a development. After two failed charges last night. I try this morning on 110 volts and it charges. I then switched to a level 2 unit and is charging. I’ve gained about 10% charge so far this morning. I’m trying to get hobdrive installed now so I can check for error codes. I’d lik...

Re: Replaced My Pack!

DB, if I was a betting man, I’d say the biggest differences between my range and Jay’s range is terrain and speed. All main roads around me are 45-55 MPH and most climb and fall more than a rollercoaster. Also, most destinations are at a lower elevation than home, so the furthest out I’m comfortable...

Re: Replaced My Pack!

The replacement battery continues to improve, or more likely, the slow BMS recalibration continues. For the first time in several years, I made an airport run without charging. That’s a 65 mile round trip, on a battery that was cold-soaked near freezing at both ends, on snow tires! I arrived home w...

Add another OBC Failure

Koorz nearly left me in a jam tonight. Drove it instead of the Bolt due to snow, got to work with less than half a charge, plugged in, and no charge. Of course, I didn’t find out until I went to leave. Thinking that it might have been the charging station at work, I went two miles down the road to a...

Re: Anyone tried wrapping iMiev with glossy vinyl?

Since this thread came back, I'll chime in. I will say also, that when I first started looking at i-MiEVs, I originally went for silver but ended up with white once I saw both in person. Now I have one in white and one in silver. Had the 2014/2016 blue been available in 2012, there's no doubt that's...

Re: Drivetrain transplant

Plug in some more of the components, and it'll likely stay READY. Namely, I think the car needs to talk to the heater and A/C systems.

Re: FYI brake vacuum pump recall for early 2020

Do you hear a pump run when the car is started? Usually, a persistent tone and BRAKE light indicates no vacuum assist. When everything is working normally, it's possible to recreate this by rapidly pumping the brake pedal. See video here for the sound of the pump: https://open.lbry.com/@PV1:9/imiev_...

Re: FYI brake vacuum pump recall for early 2020

Just got the notices in the mail for both of my cars. Maybe now I'll get the airbag fixed in Bear while I'm at it.

Re: Shifter starting to have problems

The RBS light would be caused by the redundant gear switches in the selector box not matching (think being in-between gears). This would go away with lubricating the shifter linkage at the gearbox. WD40 makes for a decent cleaner, but isn't that great for lubrication. Motor oil penetrates the bearin...
