Re: using a Lev50 pack for solar

If the inverter and charge controller can handle pack voltage, that’s awesome. As for keeping the stock BMS, that would depend on information others on this forum may have. I don’t know how functional the BMS is with the pack separate from the car.

Re: using a Lev50 pack for solar

As long as you have a functioning battery management system and the solar system either has a lithium ion charge profile or you can manually set max and minimum voltages, this should work. For your voltage range, take 3.5 volts and 4.1 volts for each cell and multiply for the number of cells wired i...

That’s awesome! I moved your post out onto its own thread so it’s easier to find.

Re: Life with Chevy Bolt EV

I’m not on any Bolt forums. I tried using the sister forum to this one, but it was nothing but two guys arguing back and forth and I got tired of sorting through their posts. I guess I got lucky and bought one that was put together right. That’s sad to hear so many Bolts are having issues. A guy sto...

Re: Replaced My Pack!

Regarding that 65 mile airport run, I guess I neglected to say that yes, of course I exercised “rather attentive driving”. Hypermiling an I-MiEV is the epitome of attentive driving. However, I did not set out to hypermile on the outbound leg- I was simply faced with gridlocked highway traffic so to...

Re: Life with Chevy Bolt EV

I've had the stabilizer links, stabilizer bar, rear axle, traction battery replaced and other small issues. But the noise that is killing me is something that sounds lose when in stop and go bumper traffic. You would think it is the torque but it isn't. It is a Tink noise like as if something is bo...

Re: Add another OBC Failure

It may be on its way to failing. My first charging problem "fixed" itself and the car charged fine for 3 days before the OBC stopped working for good. Keep it close home so you don't get stranded. That’s what I figured. I charged it to 95% and left it at work, since the dealer is only 7 m...

Re: CCS/SAE

It’s going to take a long time, if ever, for CHAdeMO to disappear. It was the de-facto world standard for quick charging until the SAE got involved. Personally, I think big on-board chargers capable of three-phase as is done in Europe would’ve been the better answer instead of having four different ...

Re: Add another OBC Failure

Well, it charged to 70% and stopped. I replugged it and it continues charging. I have CaniOn running to log data. So the charger may not be bad, but on its way to failing.

Re: Life with Chevy Bolt EV

What kind of noise is it making? What all issues are there?
