Re: What to do while waiting for your i-MiEV to charge?

You guys make a good point about the need to unplug so the next car can charge. Maybe charging stations need express lanes and slow lanes, the express lane for those who will stay with the car and leave as soon as its charged, and a slow lane - with an attendant - where you drop off the car and keys...

Re: What to do while waiting for your i-MiEV to charge?

Since they make almost no money off of the gasoline, installing Quick Chargers at gas stations makes the most sense. Is that right? I always assumed gas station owners/managers were making a killing on gas. I'm not so sure gas stations will ever be the best place for charging stations. Unlike gas p...

Re: How many miles should first bar last on low mile battery

I haven't seen anyone talk about whether the initial miles are flat, uphill or downhill. Keeping a moderate speed uphill will still drop that first bar quickly. Because the first bar seems to be very variable to me, I generally look at when I lose the second bar. In the summertime I lose the second ...

Re: So, in summary....

Hey Tony it was nice meeting you at our EV Plug In day in Latham. I'm trying to get an idea and since you are in my location what did your range dip down to last winter? When I fully charge now my estimated range indicator says approx 65 - 70 miles. What can I expect to see for this range in the wi...

Re: So, in summary....

Zelenec, I like your style. I also had no problem driving my Miev in Albany NY last winter. Of course it gets less range but I do less driving in the winter so it wasn't really an issue. I find that the seat heater makes a big difference and for those who regularly have passengers I would suggest bu...

Re: i-MiEV and Renewable Energy

The system in the picture I posted was originally going to be leased, but the "line" was over 100 homes, so they decided to buy it. It cost about $27K, while the lease deal they had was about $1,400 down and ~$58/month for 20 years for their electricity. They were paying ~$70 to $180 per ...

Re: i-MiEV and Renewable Energy

So has anyone here actually purchased - not leased - solar panels for their home? I'd be interested in knowing how that had worked out financially so I can compare that to leasing.

Re: i-MiEV and Renewable Energy

I don't know, Tony - I guess it's all in how you read the fine print...Any 'deal' is usually good for one party or the other - Very few equally benefit both. I guess I'm just skeptical, but the 'buyout' if you try to sell your house would be a huge red flag for me, but if you OWN the system, no que...
