Re: Level 1 Charging Cord

amazon.com lists a Leviton Level 1 charger for $855 ... sounds pricey to me.

Jack points

The owner's manual does not address the issue of an owner changing a tire, so no info on where (and where not) to place a jack.

Anyone tried jacking up the car to change a tire? Suggestions on correct lift points for the front and back of the car?

Woo-Hoo! Our i has arrived!

Drove to Albuquerque yesterday to do all the paperwork and test drove our silver SE ... what a great car! And because we live well beyond the car's range, we had it trucked to Taos this morning. Been out driving it on and off all day at various speeds, on hills, flats, and on some dirt roads too, an...

Re: Hello from northern New Mexico: i on order for May deliv

Yes, I know the charger is in the vehicle. What's mounted on the wall (or what you carry in your trunk) is just a regulated power supply. I do like the idea of being able to carry a modified EVSE with me on the chance I'd find 240 somewhere near where I can park. Progress report on our car: it's at ...

Re: Why use remote for delaying or terminating charging??

One simple answer would be to charge the car during certain hours with time-of-use metering from your power company.

Of course an alternative would be to simply put a timer on your charger instead.

Re: LiON accessary battery

The "traction battery" is what you're calling the "main battery." It's the lithium ion pack that drives the car's traction motor, hence traction battery. Running a few calculations at home, the cost efficiency of an integrated solar panel on the roof of the car just wouldn't cut ...

Re: Fuel costs

An easier way to put it for someone is "I get the electric equivalent of 112 miles per gallon." I think the EPA number is based on gas at $3.70/gallon and electricity at 12 cents kw/h. That works out to just under three cents a mile to operate the i.

Re: Rav4 and Honda fit EVs...anybody waiting?

"Maintenence" on the EV+ meant I was *required* to bring the car in every six months for a *mandatory* tire rotation and brake inspection, but they also were downloading data from an on-board recorder for research purposes. I suspect the six month requirement in the lease was due to memory...

Re: Rav4 and Honda fit EVs...anybody waiting?

"limited supply, lease only" sure sounds familiar to me! .... If your intention is to ultimately purchase the Fit EV (and not just turn it back at the end of the lease), you should scrutinize any lease agreement thoroughly before signing on. With the Honda EV+, it was a 3 year lease-only d...

Re: How will they charge us gasoline tax?

There's already been discussion in many states of switching away from a gasoline tax to a "miles driven" tax. Enforcement would of course be an issue, though requiring manufacturers to grant access to the vehicle's data recorder on an annual basis could solve that problem.
