Re: My least favorite feature

Hi Folks, The near freezing temps ding was un-nerving till I knew what it was! For me, the least favorite 'feature' is the right/rear pillar obstructs vision when merging. I've learned to lean forward/back to better check what's coming, but am still cautious. The headlight dimmer is kindof soft, I'v...

Re: Charging two i-Mievs

Hi Toby, IF that is the ONLY outlet on that breaker, AND it has 12ga wiring, an electrician could easily convert it to 240V, 20A(derated to 16A) using the existing 12ga wiring. The white neutral wire would be marked at each end with red tape and labeled HOT. At max charge rate our Maeve pulls about ...

Re: FYI brake vacuum pump recall for early 2020

I too got notification today, for our 2014.

Hopefully the non-EV dealer that is 25 miles away can do the work, and I don't have to do the 78 mile trip to the EV-certified shop.

Thanks and good health, Weogo

Re: additional electric heater

Hi,

The significant advantage to going with higher voltage is your wires don't have to be as heavy.

Compared to 24V, 12V requires twice as much copper.
36V or 48V requires even less copper.

Re: Buying a used 2011 iMiev from Norway

Hi Bilych, Since 1971 I've been driving on the slow side as an environmentally sensible choice. For me, choosing a highway or city route is based on multiple factors. The I-MiEV has a fair amount of wind drag, which really affects energy use at high speed. Generally speaking, cars go farther at slow...

Re: 12V battery and heated seat cover

Hi Simon, I put two AGM batteries in my 1982 Toyota diesel pickup truck more than ten years ago and they are still working very well. The batteries are a bit smaller and lighter than the original equipment batteries. Our Mitsu, named Maeve, got an AGM in May. It's a little smaller and lighter than t...

Re: MCU 20A 450VDC fuse investigation

Kenny, How did you get those very cool photos?! One guess on the alloy blob is something that would heat up, release smoke, and discolor the inside of the fuse so it is obvious the fuse is blown. Alternately, if it has a relatively low melt point, it could tell a tech that the fuse has been near its...

Re: Help Identify Connector, 12V Output of DC/DC Converter

Hi Kenny,

I don't know that connector.
Fastest might be sending your pics and dimensions to some of the big, online connector dealers and
seeing if they can chase down what you need.

Re: Good deal on Yoko 175/60R15s

Hi Ctromley,

Will the seller give you the date of manufacture?
Even without use, tires age, and if these came off the line five years ago they may or may not be so great.

If you go with them, please let us know how they do for you.

Thanks and good health, Weogo

Re: Is my battery dying ?

Hi Simon, Here in the USA 12" wide x 16" long x 8" high concrete blocks cost about $3 each. A stack of two of these with a piece of 3/4" ply on top gets you up to around 16" , or about 40cm. Including the plywood cost would be under $50. I would take some fiberglass-reinforc...
