Re: BMU,Cautions,CMU, SERVICE PLUG, BALANCER,CAN, K-Line

Another interesting find is that the data sent from the CMU to the BMU is formatted as 48 separate CAN PIDs ranging from 0x611-614 up to 0x6C1-6C4 with 2 temperatures and 2 cell voltages each . The msb of the PID, 0x6, indicates cell data, the middle byte which ranges from 1 to C identifies the cmu...

Re: Weird Charging Curve

I think maybe Chargepoint software/firmware is interpreting the i-MiEV's pause as an error, and they play it safe (hedge the bet) by only sending out 120V after that. I find it hard to believe that an EVSE, which already has a mechanism for controlling load (the pilot signal), would go to the troub...

This forum software (PhPBB) has a quirk where messages don't end up in the sent folder until the recipient reads it. So that's actually a useful feature, once you know about it.

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC), DC-DC Converter

I think "OBC" is the On Board Charger, the big box that I have open, Correct. but ¿what is (and where is) the MCU? It's the next big box to the right, the Motor Control Unit. See this post . http://i.imgur.com/ciXDSS8.jpg [ Edit: that's the fuse at the bottom right of the area unde...

Re: ChargePoint Charging Question

I shared this earlier. ... This pause? Oops! That is indeed a pause, which I should have checked for. I still wonder if it could be charrger firmware related though. [ Edit: for example, your charrger seems to be capable of brief periods of more than 3 kW, whereas kevin1956murray's doesn't s...

Or maybe your battery is in a state where the BMS doesn't decide to do the pause.

Re: Troubleshooting and repair for On-board Charger (OBC), DC-DC Converter

The cover seemed somewhat toasted by the area on the wiring / coils. Yeah, the charrgers run really hot. That's unfortunately normal, or at least usual. The large condenser on the left has a color that is a bit more toasted than the other two. It will probably survive, but would be good to replace ...

Re: ChargePoint Charging Question

It seems to me that the pause is screwing with the station and the station could be ... It's hard to know what is happening without special equipment. I think that there has to be a firmware issue with the ChargePoint EVSE, whereby it's not handling the pause correctly, at least under some circumst...

Re: Inverter to power refrigerator during power outage

I just found out a company offers a product called an EV Power Station: There is a reasonable chance that Nichicon know a thing or two about iMievs [ edit: at least the charrgers and batteries ] , since their name appears on the OBC printed circuit boards, as well as the electrolytic capacitors. Of...
