Re: And now my I will not charge!!

That bottom board will need to be removed in order to access the solder joints on the bottom that hold the resistor. ... disassembly step to remove the board and requires all the solder on those top joints to be removed in order to get that bottom board out of the box. Yeah. And I thought Elcon cha...

Re: Decyphering iMiEV and iON CAR-CAN message data

In your opinion, do you feel that getting hold of the firmware is the most straightforward way to proceed ? I'm very new at iMievs; I don't have one myself. My only connection is a friend of a friend is trying to transplant a complete iMiev drive train into a Citroën, and there are problems. I've a...

Re: Decyphering iMiEV and iON CAR-CAN message data

From another perspective. if it is completely unrealistic to get a handle on controlling how the existing software works, how crazy is the concept of generating a totally new operating system ? When its all said and done, its difficult to imagine a more basic EV than an iMiEV, consequently developi...

Re: Now MR BEAN won’t charge!

Here's the spec sheet for our 20A fuse under the inverter inspection cover. Still haven't found an online vendor. The nearest equivalent I have found so far isn't great. It's a Bussmann/Eaton PV fuse, part number PV-20A10-T, which is surprisingly rated at 33 kA or 50 kA of interrupt capability (wha...

Re: Now MR BEAN won’t charge!

Here's the spec sheet for our 20A fuse under the inverter inspection cover. Still haven't found an online vendor. I believe that PEC might stand for Panasonic Electronic Components ... I was WRONG. It stands for Pacific Engineering Corporation. Here is a detailed drawing of the fuse, in case we mig...

Re: Now MR BEAN won’t charge!

It sure seems like there is a rash of failed chargers here lately... we need to figure out what's going on with these thangs? My guess is electrolytic capacitors coming to their end of life, and going high internal resistance and/or low capacity. Some photos I've seen have the plastic no longer cov...

Re: Now MR BEAN won’t charge!

Here's the spec sheet for our 20A fuse under the inverter inspection cover. Still haven't found an online vendor. It's an unusually compact fuse for the rating. It's like a 3AB ceramic fuse with tags, but slightly larger diameter. I believe that PEC might stand for Panasonic Electronic Components, ...

Re: Car not charging,..DC/DC converter failure. not what we expected.

Kiev, the charger block diagram is almost the same as for the Elcon EV chargers, except: * The PFC transistor is a pair of PFC MOSFETs in the Elcons * The Elcons' switching devices are MOSFETs, not IGBTs I didn't realise that the DC-DC was in a separate compartment. I assumed that one transformer wa...

Re: Car not charging,..DC/DC converter failure. not what we expected.

It may be repairable yet. True. But unfortunately after a massive transient like that, blowing some parts to soot, it's likely that there is damage to other parts of the circuit. As with the soot, I guess it could be HV discharge, but the only thing it would have discharge to was the relay next to ...

Re: Car not charging,..DC/DC converter failure. not what we expected.

Howdy Mike, welcome to the miev forum. Hi. I may be starting an interest in iMievs, for a colleague. I was thinking those blue caps were like the 2 Y caps of an EMI filter such as this: ... and it read: HR R 102k Yes, that clinches it. Now I'm thinking that electronpusher's "resistors" ma...
