Re: Pretty Good Level 2 EVSE for Less Than $200

Still need to find out how much it would be to install a 240V outlet in the garage. My panel is in the basement so they'd have to run the wire through the walls. Some houses have an outlet (or two) in the garage which are on their own dedicated breaker in the power panel. If you're that lucky, it w...

Re: OVMS for Mitsubishi i-Miev, Citroen C-Zero and Peugeot iOn

It looks like they are on new hardware with OVMS3.1

I just found out about this some time ago and you can't get the older version anymore so it seems I have to wait until they add i-MIEV support back in :(

Re: Pretty Good Level 2 EVSE for Less Than $200

Thanks Don, it's more of a "you get what you pay for" and "if the price seems too good to be true it probably is" type concern :D But your positive experiences help. This is still cheaper than buying a new one and getting 50% off government rebate, I need to shop around. Still ne...

Re: Pretty Good Level 2 EVSE for Less Than $200

I've been tempted to buy one of these but I am so wary of their quality and certifications.

ie. if something happens and it damages the car or burns the garage down, Mitsubishi or insurance will push back since it's not certified or something.

Battery charging: Full versus Partial

Found this article, not sure how it applies to the i-MIEV battery. https://pushevs.com/2018/04/27/battery-charging-full-versus-partial/ Cycling from 100 to 0 % we get 500 cycles Cycling from 100 to 10 % we get 500 cycles Cycling from 100 to 20 % we get 1.000 cycles Cycling from 90 to 0 % we get 1.50...

Re: Future of Public EV Charging

A sliding cost structure is a great idea. The flat pricing and mandatory session fees are crazy... One of the issues across the country is laws which prohibit "selling" electricity if you are not a utility. California had such a law but promptly changed it to accommodate /kWh payment for ...

A sliding cost structure is a great idea. The flat pricing and mandatory session fees are crazy. Incidentally this is my last DCFC session(lucky it was free). Started at 36%. http://i.imgur.com/CMYefzy.jpg Only 2X as fast as my L2 charging. I just gave up and drove on. Made it there and back with 1 ...

Re: Future of Public EV Charging

Amazingly they just opened a L3 charger in Niagara Falls, just out of the MIEV range, about 120km away. For the low low price of $20/hour:( So it looks like a short road trip to the Falls cost as much as a trip with an ICE car. I’m leaning Tesla more and more. I don’t think Superchargers cost that m...

Pertinent to this discussion, here's the latest from ChargePoint (I didn't quite understand who their target audience is for this presentation): http://info.chargepoint.com/rs/079-WYC-990/images/2017_ChargePoint_Charging_Forward_Report.pdf One thing I'm belatedly beginning to realize is that multi-...

Re: 5 Year Ownership Review

Regarding the Model 3, I was so torn between it and the Bolt. What sold me on the Bolt was driving a Model X. Tesla, to me, seems to focus more on curb appeal than on everyday practicality on most things with the exception being charging (nothing can touch Supercharging). If I had a job where wow-i...
