Re: Eliminating Mitsu's Onboard Charger/DC-DC Converter

NOTE: I just noticed that charliejuliett edited his original post and answered our questions there. My bad in doing those edits first, as we should keep these threads as ongoing conversations instead of going back and changing our posts (other than to correct errors that we should subsequently also ...

Eliminating Mitsu's Onboard Charger/DC-DC

Charliejuliett, thank you !! I'm still digesting the details of your mod, but this is exactly what I had in mind when the charger /dc-dc problems started getting serious. The bonus is that you have a higher-power charging capability that is also portable. As jray3 pointed out - at less than the cost...

Re: Viper remote start successfully installed.

Gorfllub, thank you for this and your other mod posts, and discussing the possible other uses for this installation. ...This brings me to a question..... If plugged in, but charging has ended, will the car kick charging back in if it detects low voltage on the 12v battery? Or does the car not monito...

Re: Different Tire Sizes on Standard Rims

Gen1 Honda Insight spare wheels with spacesaver tires. I now always carry two of these with a small jack and lugwrench in a Rubbermaid container in my i-MiEV and recently found out that the OEM Insight ultra-LRR Bridgestone Potenza R92 tires would fit these rims, but I haven't tried that myself. Our...

Used Electric Car Dealer

On another thread, The unique thing about this seller (Rose Motorcars) is that they're a used car dealer but, the only thing they sell are used electric vehicles. Something I find refreshing. I've been by there and they have at least 50 electrics for sale of just about any modern make and model. htt...

Re: i-bargains

ed5000, as you can see I moved your posts out of the other thread which had been generated by our admin to clarify the rules for posting for sale items. BTW, even though I moved them in here I don't consider them bargains as nowadays a bargain i-MiEV would be around $4K. This particular thread has b...

Re: Supplemental cooling for the charger.

Don, yet another possibility, although IIRC it's the non-heat-sinked components that are getting hot that are the concern. According to the i-MiEV Owner's Manual, the car uses "Dia Queen Super Long Life Coolant Premium", or an equivalent "high quality ethylene glycol based non-silicat...

Re: Ha! I just made a coast/neutral button!

Had written this before Aerowhatt's post... As someone who has probably spent more time coasting in Neutral than anyone else on this forum (except maybe Aerowhatt), I've been following this N-button discussion with interest, primarily from the hacking standpoint and wondering if it could form the ba...
