Re: Wallbox Quasar or other bi-directional chademo

EXCELLENT! I’ve been waiting for such for a very long time, and unlike TESLA announcements, this one comes with actual specifications, though no details on how it handles changeover in a grid outage. UL1741 dictates a quick disconnection during power failures. After more reading, I see no emergency ...

Mini E

Waaay too long after the test fleet of Tesla-batteried Mini E cars were parted out, a replacement arrives at essentially the same pricing that our I-MiEV launched at in 2011 (a $29k base model and $35k Premium edition). Of course, today that gets you twice the range, more than twice the power, and f...

The last new i-MiEV in the USA?

Technically offered as a used car, but this one is advertised as having 150 miles, with the CarFax reporting a few fewer... https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/793221900/overview/ https://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory/p/Report.cfx?vin=JA3215H44GU000224&partner=CAA_0 I'd sure be curious wha...

Re: A new recall on the braking system

Reading the awkward translation makes me wonder if this is the vacuum pump recall that we dealt with years ago finally taking place in Japan? Our vacuum pumps were affected by road spray getting in through the exhaust ports....

Re: On-Board Charger (OBC) Warranty Extended!

The replacement charger that I just got after 6 weeks in the shop bears a manufacture date of June 12, 2018. The dealer claimed a “supply shortage”, so it must have taken a slow boat from Japan! Its sticker reads

Re: Battery Replacement - Lessons Learned

Congrats on a good experience, BarryP and Docjr. That $6k quote on a replacement battery is the lowest price I've heard yet, and is certainly within the realm of practicality.

Re: Is my battery dying ?

Yes, sorry to hear of all the rust and broken bolts. Minimal salting here in the Pac NW for salmon recovery, so minimal rust down below. The threaded rods area really just needed for safety and alignment purposes. I swapped my pack by jacking each end of the pack down/up 5 cm at a time and then fing...

A new recall on the braking system

From Japanese press on Nov 7th, still nothing appearing on the Mitsubishimotors.com website or any other USA recall tracker... That plus the number of affected vehicles (19,799) implies to me that it is a JDM-only recall at this point. I'm curious how long it takes for this wave to cross the Pacific...
