Re: Could Nissan's battery problems happen to us?

I hate to comment about this again but there is no cooling fan in the I-miev unless you have optional equipment. Even the dealer was confused about this as I went back and complained about the lack of a fan after buying the car. Careful reviewing of his sales handbook clairified the fan sitiuation--...

Re: Could Nissan's battery problems happen to us?

Unfortunately we don't have any cooling system on our I-mievs. The only way you get the fan is if you have the quick charge port or the battery warming system. The warming system only operates when the battery is extremely cold and it puts heated air into the pack. For cooling, the system is only us...

Re: Corrosion

There are a couple of things to do. You need to get the salt off the car and neturalize anything that stays on. There is a product called "salt away" that is basically used in marine engines to help flush the salt out. It can be sprayed on with a garden hose after you have washed with soap...

Re: 1-year Check

OK---the car is delivered and the one year battery check was done for free. The result was 47.6 AH of battery capacity. This is a car with 14 months since build, sitting in Florida with a fully charged pack for 10 months. The car had 30 miles on the odometer when checked. The Technician told me that...

Re: 1-year Check

I was going to pick up my second I-Miev today. However, as I am buying, not leasing this one I told the dealer that before I was going to complete the deal the annual battery check must be done. The car was built in April 2012 and has been sitting on the lot (in Florida heat) with a fully charged ba...

Re: Passive cooling ?

Yes, the picture marked "actuator" is the actuator in question. The quick and easy way to get instant cooling is to remove the connector and take the two screws out that hold the assembly to the heater duct. Manually move the linkage until the lower arm faces forward and you are done. When...

Re: $10,000 off MSRP "rebate" available on remaining 2012's

I am not really confident that there will be a 2013 I-Miev in the United States. I don't see how Mitsubishi can possibly continue to build a special car, different from what they sell in the rest of the world just for our limited market. I am currently leasing a SE on the $99/no down two year lease....

Re: Passive cooling ?

You must have either the quick charge option or the cold weather package to have this part in the car. As I am new to this forum, I don't think I can post pictures yet (there is no "advanced" option available). However, if you get your head into the drivers footwell and look in the opening...

Re: What Other EV's Have You Driven?

I have owned a Grumman "Kurbwatt", three Chevrolet S10-ev's (one Pba, two NiMH), a 2002 Rav4-EV (not the new one), a 2012 Nissan LEAF, a 2013 Nissan LEAF, and a 2012 I-miev. I have driven a Volt, a GEM, a Citicar and a few homebuilts back in the day. Boy, EV's have come a long way from DC ...

Re: Passive cooling ?

I have a I-miev with the battery warming option. I thought it was pretty useless in Florida but I found a good use for it. It works by directing air from the heater floor vents into the battery when the temperature is very cold. However, on my car I removed the actuator (one connector and two screws...
