Re: Android CAN Monitoring App

Well, CAN-Do is a good start.
Get that working well, log some data, and explore the data.
Welcome to the land of CAN data.

Re: Traction Battery/Cell Voltages

Please keep us posted about what you find for
DC to DC conversion.

Depending upon when you intend to "feed" the Traction
Battery Pack, you might find that you need a lot more than
just 10 amps (about 3.5 kW) to be useful while driving.

Cheers, Gary

Re: Traction Battery/Cell Voltages

Just "listening" to the iMiEV's CAN bus, one gets all the cell voltages, twice a second as I recall. So, with the CAN bus data, it is fairly easy to tell when it is safe to charge a non-moving car. However, the comparatively large cell-voltage swings of typical Lithium Iron Phosphate cells...

Re: Traction Battery/Cell Voltages

Peter, Some of your battery chemistry "facts" seem to be pulled from some very different battery chemistries. Measuring the individual cell voltages is a "must-do" to WELL regulate charging, or discharging, of almost any Lithium cell chemistry. Also, as you charge a capacitor, th...

The OpenEVSE project, extended by "goldserve" has added a Real Time Clock (RTC) with backup battery to the project, with the 1.6.2 version of the firmware adding RTC support, and charging Timers to the firmware. See this thread: http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=11064&am...

Re: Warning when rerversing in a parking

What are the links to the ebay items, the backup noise generator, and the backup "Radar" (actually a sonar "clicker", right)? Usually such a Sonar system would detect solid objects from a few inches out to some number of feet. Often, there are a set of 4 sensors. What did you ord...

Re: Level 2 Charging at Home Stops

From the other (Volt) thread... Apparently the model EV2430WS is the older model, designed to work with 240v input, and trip its GFI at a sometimes too-low 5 milliamps (ma) of noise/leakage current. The 5 ma trip setting is typical of residential GFI circuits. However, the J1772 standards suggest us...

The LEAF protects the charging and discharging process so that no cell (96 cell-pairs) gets too high, or too low, and that the cells stay within a "usable" range of the "real SOC", which is 95% SOC when filled to 100% usable. Filling to 80% usable (80% "real SOC") is th...

Re: Using a generator to increase range / Push charging

It the http://www.mynissanleaf.com forum, Ingineer describes a trailer with a turbine based generator which is apparently used to feed regulated DC directly to the battery while driving, just as if the car was getting regen current from the car's inverter (that is actually busy driving the wheels).

Re: Decyphering iMiEV and iON CAR-CAN message data

Another week gone by, and I still need to get
the testing of the latest CAN-Do done.

However, Merry Christmas to all.
