Re: Mitsubishi Will No Longer Sell the i MiEV in the USA

Yea. I've been loving mine up in Idaho. I don't think I'll ever see that good of a price for a new EV again. If you have a dealership and are only concerned with personal transportation, the electric Smart comes pretty close value-wise. The problem, of course, is no back seat and limited (as in cab...

Re: Mitsubishi Will No Longer Sell the i MiEV in the USA

Concur with all the above. Many of the comments at Green Car Reports reflect the usual ignorance, either of the car itself or the fact that "practical" means different things to different people. The i-MiEV has supplanted our Gen2 Prius as my favorite car ever, and I doubt it will be bette...

Re: CHAdeMO Questions

I'll second Joe's concern. From the vague "technical note" that was posted, I gather that Mitsu added a "Contact test" and CHAdeMO makers added that test, but the tests aren't compatible. Older models aren't affected because when asked by a modern charger if they support the new ...

Re: Mitsubishi stupidity

There's something very Mazda 5 about the Pacifica (though I note that you dont get the Mazda 5 in the US). We used to, but it did so badly in newer crash tests (i.e. offset collisions) that sales (never strong) utterly tanked. I'm guessing Mazda could have fixed it in the next gen, but it sold so b...

Re: 2017 Volt Impressions

I really wish that the Volt has DCQC. I really wish it won't, for a couple of reasons. First, from the Volt owner's perspective, it's completely unnecessary. DCQC is really a tool for occasionally extending the range of a BEV beyond the norm, either for a busy task list or a longer trip. Volt can h...

Re: Mitsubishi and Nissan

If the companies actually combined, the i-MiEV isn't really an attractive product for Nissan, especially with the new Nissan/Mitsu kei cars being electrified soon. Even those will be more important internationally than as U.S. products, which I doubt they'd be. It wasn't cheap to get the 'i' U.S.-re...

Re: Consumer Reports Got It So Wrong!

Good to talk to you again as well, Vike. I think we last ran into each other last year, when there was a particularly (rare) well-written appraisal of the i-MiEV over on Green Car Reports. Glad to hear you're still driving your "Jellybean," as I seem to remember then that your considering...

Re: Consumer Reports Got It So Wrong!

The same thing happened in the closing days of 2015, when an online interview with Mitsubishi’s CEO, Osamu Masuko, regarding the company’s North American electric vehicle strategy that was published on November 30th on the Automotive News web site . . . http://www.autonews.com/article/20151130/OEM0...

Re: Consumer Reports Got It So Wrong!

Your point being? I'm just trying to find a silver lining. :) I wasn't arguing with you. (Indeed, I wasn't addressing you at all. It was just "Hey, here's what they're saying now.") On what conceivable basis would you say the i-MiEV "didn't actually make any 'worst' lists"? I wa...

Re: Consumer Reports Got It So Wrong!

There's a bit about the i-MiEV in the current CR (April, the "2016 Annual Auto Issue"). It's not all negative -- it's number two on the overall "Best Mileage" chart (behind only the BMW i3), and it didn't actually make any "worst" lists. ;) In the individual listings, ...
