Re: OEM EVSE Fault

Your car should still be under the full bumper to bumper warranty . . .. but going there with a problem like this may not get you much - Odds are that your EVSE will work just fine when you try to show the dealer your problem . . . . I personally doubt there's anything wrong with it. If you mention ...

Re: Brakes - 2012 same as 2014?

The rotors get surface rust every time I don't drive the car for 2 or 3 days - It wears off the first time you touch the brakes. I can't imagine that I'll need pads or rotors before 200,000 miles. I seldom touch the brake pedal until I'm down to 15 or 20 mph I sold a Toyota Supra once with 150,000 m...

Pretty Good Level 2 EVSE for Less Than $200

I bought one of these to use with our new Chevy Volt and I'm pretty impressed with it, so thought I'd share it with the group in case anyone is looking for a good L2 EVSE with adjustable current settings https://www.ebay.com/itm/Portable-EV-Charger-EVSE-6-20-Plug-6-16A-240V-For-Electric-Vehicle-J177...

Re: OEM EVSE Fault

While there's nothing 'wrong' with using an extension cord to charge (especially not with a 10 gauge one) the extra NEMA 5-15 connections that adds are prone to giving intermittent connections, especially after repeated plugging and unplugging. A 5-15 is a pretty poor choice for any circuit drawing ...

Re: Is my battery dying ?

I'm sure you're correct that initial degradation (probably the first 15% or so) is pretty much hidden by how far the car will go after it reaches zero RR. I recall once early on when we went 6 miles at about 40 or 45 mph and got home without any sign of the car slowing down - No idea how much farthe...

Re: Is my battery dying ?

Driving it fast, can you actually go 55 to 60 miles?

IMO, how far the car can go now vs how far it used to go is a better measure of the battery than any of the 'scientific' tests - Unless you've noticed a marked decrease in actual range, I wouldn't be too worried about it

Re: OEM EVSE Fault

My thoughts are the same - Since it's such a random failure, it's probably a grounding problem of some sort. True OEM EVSE problems are pretty rare

Re: Maintenance of gearbox ....

75W-90 Hypoid Gear Oil is usually only called for in differentials which have hypoid gears, where the teeth 'wipe' across each other which cause a shearing action of the oil. Modern manual transmissions don't call for it's use anymore Guess what Dodge called for as lubricant in a 5 speed manual tran...

Re: terms of baterry warranty

Even if you were successful in getting the warranty changed to match the USA version, it wouldn't do anything for your 32% degradation because battery degradation isn't covered by the warranty in any country - The warranty only covers failure. When we bought our car new in May of 2012, we signed a s...
