I predict that . . . . it will not get nearly as warm as the 16 gauge wire which runs between the EVSE and the J-1772 connector. On all 4 of my EVSE's, that cord gets pretty warm, especially on a hot day

Re: Santa Monica Boulevard

The general public is still wary of EV's and fire is one reason - Let one EV catch fire and they forget about the 50 or so ICE cars which catch fire every single day. One is so rare it always makes news, the other happens so often we ignore it . . . . that's not news! My favorite was the Ford cruise...

Re: Skinnier rear tires on front rims

165/65r14’s (re92’s) have a lower rolling resistance and are dimensionally the same as the stock front tires. I'm 99.9% sure no 14 inch wheel will fit the front because they don't clear the calipers - I recall years ago trying one of my 14 inch Miata wheels on the front - They fit the rear fine (dr...

Re: Adapters

It is true that any source must be fused (or breakered) for the size of the wire downstream of the fuse in order to meet code - No argument there. It's the 'law' and for good reason When I added the third EVSE in my garage after we bought the Chevy Volt, I planned to power it using the 6-50 outlet w...

Re: A New Tire For Us!

Any problems with the stability control system kicking in when pushed on curves? Not that I've noticed, but it's the wife's car and I haven't driven it very far, nor very hard. The tires are the correct size, so I don't think it should be an issue When she had the flat a few miles from home, I ran ...

Re: A New Tire For Us!

Got the Achilles tires mounted on the back today. I really like the look if these - They look a lot like summer tires to me . . . . big wide grooves for the water to escape and they're directional like most summer tires are. We'll see how low the LRR actually is after a while, but for less than $50 ...

Re: Skinnier rear tires on front rims

The front and rear wheels can't be swapped--they intentionally have different diameter collars that fit to the axle hub. So the lips won't fit, and you'll have to a quit. They added a press in metal collar to the front hubs which makes the center bore of the rear wheels too small to fit. I think th...

Re: Skinnier rear tires on front rims

I think you're probably right - I seriously doubt you could find a tire with the same circumference as a 175/60R15 which would fit on a 4" rim. Even if you could, I really doubt you would gain any efficiency. Buy only LRR tires and inflate them to 40 psi and you'll have about all the efficiency...

Re: Hatched a Tesla

Lastly, my woman of pure logic refused to drive the car because "There's no way we're buying one, so why should I try what I can't have?"..... What a practical gal!! - That's been my motto for most of my life Our new Volt came with a 3 month free trial with OnStar (including turn by...
