Re: 12 volt battery 2012

I'm thinking it's probably time to find a new battery? You got really lucky, IMO - It was way past time for a new battery by then and trying to operate the car with a known bad 12 volt battery can cause some really expensive (nearly terminal) malfunctions of some critical parts of the car Really gl...

Re: Imiev/Smart car

Perhaps this is common knowledge but it was news to me. The imiev started its existence as a 4dr ICE Smart Car in Europe according to this: https://cleantechnica.com/2017/08/06/goodbye-mitsubishi-miev-first/ I googled a 4dr Smart and it does look very similar to the imiev Yes, that's true. I've rea...

Re: Remote/heat/ac while charging

That's a stroke of luck!! It will probably need new batteries, but since you know it came with your car, it should work fine . . . . or at least as well as it ever did. Really wish the remote was half as well engineered as the rest of the car - Once you've got it working and played with it some, you...

Re: Remote/heat/ac while charging

Yes, all USA 2012's came with the remote from the factory, but many of them were little used and evidently forgotten when the cars were sold or traded in because it seems it's about 50/50 that anyone buying a used 2012 got a remote with it, so you're not alone The remote is the only way to preheat o...

Re: Updated Arm Rest with opening Console

I used only the basic bracket too. I spent some time with my belt sander and sanded away enough on both the front and the rear of the bracket to make it match the profile of the console. This also made it sit about 1/2 inch lower, which was another plus, at least for me. I attached the bracket to th...

Re: Dash Dissassembly

Well, the 'secret' to getting at the wires on the backside of the accessory outlet is to 'pop' open the heater control panel - Once you have that out of the way, the rest is easy. The wires supplying 12 volts to the outlet in the dash are tiny - No more than 18 gauge, which should be a consideration...

Re: Updated Arm Rest with opening Console

While we're on the hunt for the snap rivets for the center console, does anyone know where to get more of the snap rivets for the door panels? I inadvertently broke two or three of them while trying to pop the rear driver side door back on. The panel, so far, stays on fine with one remaining rivet ...

Re: Supplemental cooling for the charger.

It also has been confirmed here that level 1 charging generates less heat. Especially if you use the supplied OEM 2012 Panasonic EVSE which only does 8 amps, 960 watts. That's how I've been recharging 95% of the time for the past year because of all the heat related failures we've been seeing here....

A good, well documented review giving both the positives and negatives of these wonderful little cars . . . . which means of course there's no future for you reviewing automobiles!

Re: Got Solar!

Hope this scheme continues working for you and I trust you have some automatic controls for not overheating the water that comes from the collectors (uncontrolled and at a very low flowrate my pool solar collectors are great at generating steam on a summer afternoon). I have no overheat protection ...
