Re: Need a longer range ev

I really like the idea of driving pure EV's . . . . wherever and whenever practical. Our two iMiEV's have been the best things we've purchased in a long time. The wife loves hers and that's largely because in more than 6 years, she's never had the slightest bit of 'range anxiety' - I keep it charged...

Re: What's inside a cell?

Interesting! - He calculates an iMiEV could have a 27 Kw pack made out of standard 18650 cells. I hope someone starts assembling modules using our OEM BMS modules so when the time comes, we have better options for replacement

Re: long-term parts availability ?

I think $300 is pretty close to the dealer price for a headlight assembly - I've seen them on eBay more than once for $200. I have a spare right one in my garage as a result of a minor fender bender my wife had a few years back. I've hung on to it thinking sooner or later a forum member here might n...

Re: Simple question about chargers

I think it would help if we knew where you're located (Europe or North America) and what year and model car you have - iMiEV, iOn or C-Zero Public charging doesn't involve you buying any cables - You just plug in the J-1772 connector and you're charging . . . . unless maybe you live in England, wher...

Re: Simple question about chargers

All 'charging' is done by the charger built into the car, you can't change that and it is limited to 3.3 Kw maximum

The EVSE's you are considering determine how fast you can charge based on whether you are using 120 volts or 240 volts as the power source.

Re: Yokohama Avid Envigors Discontinued!?!?!

I'm a big Yoko fan - I've had them on several cars over the years. One thing I really like is most of them, depending on the size, are made in Japan. But honestly, they've never made a decent iMiEV tire which wears well and doesn't knock 10% or more off your range, so IMO it's no big deal if they've...

Re: Regen vs Neutral and speed for max range

So 42% SOC to climb and 12% returned on the way down 12/42 = 28.6% of the power to climb was returned by the regen on the same mountain road. As you can see the speed on this stretch of road is quite low, average is certainly < 30mph. So regen is critical and also relatively less effective than we ...

Re: Regen vs Neutral and speed for max range

It's pretty obvious to me that if you coast down the hill in N and the aero drag limits your speed to 75, that regenning just a little bit in D and using that to limit your speed to 70 will have you with more energy in the pack at the bottom of the hill than coasting. Instead of wasting energy to ae...
