Re: Almost an owner ... but need advice

Mitsu extended the battery warranty to 10 years, 100,000 miles and they have been very good about replacing any defective batteries. Degradation is not nearly the problem it is with the Leaf. There are many cars beyond the 100K which still have 80% or better of the original range With the Mitsu, you...

Re: Finally! - My Wider Wheels/Tires Project

Well, it might be just my imagination, but with 40 psi in the 175's (same pressure I always ran in the 145's) the tires seem much 'cushier' when you hit a bump, like the tire is absorbing more of the shock. I'm sure there *is* more cubic inches of air in the tire, but the sidewall is the same height...

Re: happy new owner

Congratulations!! - Great first car for a college student, especially one who has a free charging location right on campus I think we can pretty much guarantee it does have a drivers side seat heater - Every 2012 made came with one, regardless of trim level. Perhaps the switch went bad and someone r...

Re: Charging from 48V DC

Most DC to DC converters also go from DC to AC and then back to DC again - I would be surprised if that's much more efficient than your current inverter

Re: Finally! - My Wider Wheels/Tires Project

For anyone wanting wider front tires, a simpler solution might be to find a pair of iMiEV rear wheels and mount a pair of 175/55R15's on them and try them on the front. I know that if you pull the steel collar out of the front hub, a rear wheel will bolt on the front - I tried that long ago. The cen...

Re: A New Tire For Us!

Appreciate the report! I'm not sure I would have noticed. Your post about 'full power around a corner from a stop' got me to thinking - Don't think I've ever done that in the wet or the dry The OEM Dunlops I took off my car when I put the Mini wheels on still had half tread or better after 25,000 mi...

Re: evaluate battery of used 2012 on dealer lot/test drive, HOW?

The only way to know for sure is Canion - Buy a dongle, download the app and it will tell you everything you need to know about the battery - There's a long thread here explaining all you need to know and spending an hour or so reading through it will get you up to speed That said, a 30K mile iMiEV ...

Re: Marketing the USED I-MIEV

I do agree they didn't hold their value well - We paid US $30K for our first one in May of 2012, an SE but with none of the options your car has and then 2 years later, we bought a fully loaded, like new SE Premium like yours for $8,700 when it came off lease . . . . and it only had 3,900 miles on i...

Re: Any tips to damaging the main battery?

Well i have a dumb idea--just let the car sit unused with a drained pack for a few months. It looks to me that the 12 Cell Monitoring Unit boards inside the pack are constantly powered up using some of the cells in the module to which they are attached. Over a period of time those cells will be pul...

Re: Any tips to damaging the main battery?

If you do your best to destroy it, I predict it will die a couple weeks after your warranty expires!
