Re: Regen vs Neutral and speed for max range

So 42% SOC to climb and 12% returned on the way down 12/42 = 28.6% of the power to climb was returned by the regen on the same mountain road. As you can see the speed on this stretch of road is quite low, average is certainly < 30mph. So regen is critical and also relatively less effective than we ...

Re: Regen vs Neutral and speed for max range

It's pretty obvious to me that if you coast down the hill in N and the aero drag limits your speed to 75, that regenning just a little bit in D and using that to limit your speed to 70 will have you with more energy in the pack at the bottom of the hill than coasting. Instead of wasting energy to ae...

Re: Regen vs Neutral and speed for max range

. . . . or, you can just put it in D, E or B and drive it like a normal car! We have always used B. When traffic slows, we lift and try to blend in with the speed everyone else is moving, or slowing. Anticipating the need to slow and allowing regen to do it before I run up on the car in front of me ...

Re: Need a longer range ev

As to whether to buy an extended range EV or something like a Volt, Clarity, Plug in Prius etc, much depends on how and where you would use the car. After more than 6 years, we love our EV's, but getting something for extended range travels, we had to evaluate where we live, where we travel and what...

Re: Regen vs Neutral and speed for max range

How fast does the car end up going down a long 5% grade? You are limited by aero drag and the mechanicals in the car, since there is in actuality no real 'neutral' which allows you to disconnect the drivetrain and just coast . . . . and the car's Cd is just terrible at the speeds involved in such a ...

Re: Need a longer range ev

ACC is A daptive C ruise C ontrol and since it's only a $600 option on a Volt Premier, it really doesn't make much sense to buy a Volt without it - The automatic high speed emergency braking that comes with it can save you 10 times that much in ten seconds. Unfortunately, it's not available on Volts...

Re: Need a longer range ev

You must buy the Premier package to get ACC and only ACC equipped cars have high speed emergency braking - Those were a must for me. For 2019, Premier models get the 7.2Kw charger, but I *think* if you're special ordering your LT, it may be an extra cost option, but special ordering any car usually ...

Re: Need a longer range ev

When we needed something with a longer range to go with our pair of 2012's, we got a '17 Volt Premier. It has all the bells and whistles . . . . ACC which I'll never be without again, emergency high speed braking, which has already saved my butt once, LKA, the cross vehicle alert when you're backing...

Re: TPMS on i-MiEVs

Well, after installing my new Continentals on my new BMW Mini wheels I can report that the TPMS 'issue' - so far as an iMiEV is concerned - is far from settled I bought a set of 4 new sensors from Amazon advertised as being specifically programmed for the iMiEV and had them installed when they mount...

So . . . . you've had ZERO replaced, so far?
