Re: Need a longer range ev

I'm going through this process now . . . . . Luckily, I don't have to make an abrupt decision Agreed, those quick decisions usually don't turn out to be good ones We have a 2017 Volt Premiere as our 'long range economy vehicle' which is very good at what it does - 60 miles of around town EV range a...

Re: Install a Remote Control in a 2011 i-Miev

Welcome to the forum! - Glad you found us :) I doubt it would be easy - If the car didn't come with one, then very likely the receiver and the antenna aren't built into the car, so they would need to be added . . . . and hopefully, the factory wiring would be there to support them?? Lots of work for...

Re: When to be concerned about Ah number

To the best of my knowledge, Mitsu never replaces the traction battery due to loss of capacity. When we bought our first 2012 new in May of 2012, the dealer explained that the warranty was for battery failure only and that a reduction in capacity over time was to be expected . . . . and then he had ...

Re: Wanted: Charging remote

Not to my knowledge. Also, there is the possibility that your 2014 might need a replacement designed for a 2014, as not all 2012 parts are guaranteed to work with the newer models - It would be terrible to pay a few hundred for an NA remote from a 2012 only to find it won't work with your 2014. If i...

Re: Wrecked I-miev found in Stockton

It's an SE model, but not an SE Premium - No DCQC

Certainly worth the $1,200 for anyone who lives close by and owns an iMiEV - Several times that amount of good parts in the rear, not to mention another battery pack. Wish it was within a few hundred miles of me!

Re: “BRAKE” light in dash

Welcome to the forum! - Glad you found us It's for sure NOT normal. I would check the level of the brake fluid and if that's where it should be, I would check to see if maybe something is preventing the handbrake lever from going all the way down. Either one could give you the intermittent issue you...

Re: problem with original L1 EVSE

I would test the OEM EVSE from an outlet without GFCI protection before I called this an EVSE problem - Many times, two GFCI devices in series will give *unusual* results, depending on the EVSE installed in the wall. *IF* it works 100% of the time from a non-GFCI outlet, I would just remove the GFCI...

Re: I would like to set the charge current lower than 5A

Maybe 230V to 110V transformer could help? That was my thought too - 120 volts @ 5 amps should solve his problem All North American cars came with a 960 watt EVSE - 120 volts @ 8 amps, so charging at less than 1 kw is no big deal and I *think* the EVSE Upgraded Panasonic units can be set to 6 amps ...

Re: Under the Cover--an Inside Look at a 2018 On-Board Charger (OBC2)

My concern is . . . . if your original doesn't fail in the first 10 years, you're out of luck. If it fails later, I'll bet this new one is $4K if you have to BUY one from Mitsu . . . . and that would likely mean trashing your 11 or 12 year old car, regardless of the low miles you might have on it Don

Re: [POLL] On-Board Charger and DC/DC Converter

That is sort of interesting, but I don't understand what 'potential low durability' means - they are either low durability or they are not Some of them may last for 250,000 miles and 30 years, so until there is an actual failure, it's 'potential low durability' because a large number of them HAVE f...
