Re: Driving in Snow

Even a damp road takes a hit (one would think that the slight drop in traction would help. I guess the tires suction to the road with a layer of water). The only trouble I have with winter weather (at least regarding traction and road-going) remains my uphill, concrete driveway. Driving on snow and ...

I guess that means it's officially done.

What a shame.

Re: "Secret Box"

From the looks of it, the hidden compartment is in the mail slot of the passenger-side dash, something that NA i-MiEVs don't have.

Re: LED Lighting

The left and right brake lights themselves are already LED. However, the amber turn signals and the reverse lights are incandescent and can be swapped, but I've never looked to see how accessible they are. Unfortunately, I've had to change my rear marker lights back to incandescent because the LEDs ...

Re: EVs in Everyday Life

At least the parking spaces have double lines.

In addition to my work's Volt and my car, there is now a Cadillac ELR at my workplace. This makes a total of four plug-ins at my work.

Also, this morning, I spotted a black i-MiEV parked along the road. Unfortunately I did not get a picture of it.

Re: Charging Down Route 66

Rick, congratulations on making it all the way to California! What a historical trip, to drive nearly the entire length of Ol' Route 66 in an EV with such relatively short range. This definitely speaks well to the i-MiEVs capabilities and to how well you planned out your trip. Don't forget to change...

Re: New traction battery under warranty- will that new battery have its own 10yr 100k warranty?

It should, but it doesn't. All warranties follow the VIN. My new pack only gets the remainder of the battery warranty.

Re: Future battery replacement

I wonder what the weight difference is compared to lithium ion. While energy density increases are always helpful, does anyone else find the charge time claims almost pointless? With Gen2 EV battery packs in the 50-60 kWh range, <1 hour recharge time isn't going to make much difference when the char...

Re: Motor Warning Light Comes On Shortly After Restart With Nearly Full Charge

Has it only done this the one time? Our cars, like all modern cars, are heavily software-dependent and prone to glitches. Most times, simply shutting down and restarting fixes issues. It's quite possible that it was related to the 12 volt battery being run down a bit (something we'll likely see a lo...

Re: Modifying the EVSE charger?

Feeding the stock EVSE 240 volts will blow out the power supply inside that powers the control circuit.
