Re: Tesla Truck

Aerowhatt, I like it. That's one thing that's bugged me when folks say they're "off-grid", energy-wise. They're not really off-grid when half of their energy still comes from fossil fuels (propane heat, cooking, hot water), even if all electricity comes from solar. Side-stepping the topic ...

Re: Life with Chevy Bolt EV

Something tells me the Bolt won't be a good winter car. Likewise, pre-heated for 15-20 minutes with air on the windshield, but the wipers remained frozen to the windshield. Got them free, then had issues getting them to park correctly. 1/3 of my heater power went to the battery this morning, but see...

Re: Tesla Truck

Yeah. I wasn't expecting numbers like that. I figured they'd shoot for the current 300-mile mark, not 500 "worst case". This should definitely help offset the effects of some of the insanity going on at the Federal level. The cargo was pretty nice, as well ;) . (http://myimiev.com/forum/vi...

2nd Gen Tesla Roadster

As the second half of the Tesla Semi unveil, they also surprised everyone with the re-born Tesla Roadster (if you followed the Roadster, this new one would technically be version 4.0. Versions 1, 1.5, 2, and 2.5 were all the 1st gen, with 3.0 being the upgrade kit to 350 miles range). I think this i...

Re: Life with Chevy Bolt EV

I noticed something interesting this morning. Outside temperature is hovering in the high 20's low 30's and the car hasn't moved since Friday. This morning, I went out to the car and powered it up. While I was sitting in it, I noticed the power draw moved up from 1 kW to 2 kW. Looking at the energy ...

Re: Life with Chevy Bolt EV

I was not aware that the wipers would stop 1/2 way up and then not go down with pre-heat, TY. This is the 1st car I have with preheat thing. The wipers don't automatically move with pre-heat. What I was saying was that if your HVAC was set to blow air on the windshield but failed to defrost the wip...

Re: Life with Chevy Bolt EV

Now that we're getting into pre-heat season up here in the northeast corner, I've had to adjust my habits a bit from the I-MiEV (though I might be driving Bear this winter, depends on how the Bolt handles snow). For starters, pre-condition works whether the car is plugged in or not, which means I ca...

Re: A bill in congress to stifle EV's and alternative energy generally

Well, at least Scotland had the sense to tell our fearless leader to "drop dead" when he threw a tantrum over an off-shore wind farm a few years back. Politics aside, it was funny. https://www.treehugger.com/energy-policy/donald-trump-throws-tantrum-over-wind-power-scotland.html https://ww...

Re: EVs in Everyday Life

Upon arriving home from our cross-country Tesla trip, I saw more non-Tesla EVs in one brief drive to town than I did on our entire US trip. That was my observation, as well. We saw more EVs between Cupertino and Sacramento than most of the rest of our trip. On that list were some that I never saw b...

Re: Wanted : 2012 SE

43.2 Ah on a 5 year old pack? That's incredible given the very high probability that the car could've sat for long periods of time fully charged, as is what tends to happen. If something happens to the car, you could easily get 40-50% of your cost back in the battery alone  . Ya done good! 8-)
