Re: Wanted : 2012 SE

43.2 Ah on a 5 year old pack? That's incredible given the very high probability that the car could've sat for long periods of time fully charged, as is what tends to happen. If something happens to the car, you could easily get 40-50% of your cost back in the battery alone  . Ya done good! 8-)

Re: 110 Volt Charging

The EVSEUpgrade is a total upgrade that not only takes level 1 to 12 amps, but adds level 2 at 13 amps and allows adjustable current. This is accomplished by jumping the pilot and proximity pins with a paper clip and pressing the release button for the number of amps that you want (8 presses = 8 amp...

Re: So I bought the i-Miev.

Welcome, and congratulations. To answer some of your questions, the 2014 model has level 3 (DC quick charging) standard. The release lever for this port is beside the driver seat on the floor and allows you to plug into CHAdeMO quick chargers. Leve 1 and level 2 charging are handled by the J1772 por...

Re: Life with Chevy Bolt EV

Awesome! Wow, 290 miles with Hilltop Reserve, that's considerably better than what I'm getting. I usually see around 280 at full charge and 250 with Hilltop Reserve. My only complaint so far are the automatic lights and the fact that I can't manually override its night time setting. If I manually to...

Re: Add an Aux Jack to 2012 iMiev (revisited)

Sorry. I meant an iPhone USB cable. The radio will charge the phone and allow you to scroll through playlists, artists, songs, and more right on the dash. Regarding the mileage, maybe they thought the service interval display was the odometer? 14,700 miles sounds about right for a 1st or 2nd service...

Re: Can I plug in but not charge?

Set the delay start timer (first one when you turn the remote on) for 19.5 hours. If you have a fairly regular schedule, this should prevent charging while still allowing pre-conditioning. Plug in, turn on remote, hit left arrow once, press send. The car will temporarily charge for about 15 seconds,...

Re: Add an Aux Jack to 2012 iMiev (revisited)

If you can get a cable, the radio will see the iPhone as an iPod and will work just fine. I even built a dock that fits in the cup holder using the Apple Lightning dock, a block of packing foam, and a short roll of Velcro. Works great. As for building a cable to plug into the radio, a modified USB c...

Re: Life with Chevy Bolt EV

Yes, the paddle is on/off. With no pedal input and pulling the paddle, you're getting as much regen as the motor can generate, all the way to a stop, regardless of which drive mode you're in. If you want, you can modulate paddle regen strength with the throttle pedal if you need something in between...

Re: Life with Chevy Bolt EV

I think the lack of fatigue is mostly due to low frequency rumble and vibration (I know, arguably the same thing) caused by the ICE. I'm not sure how much of a role stopping and charging plays. I drove straight home from the charger. In the Volt, I did the same drive but with a gas stop in the middl...

Re: Best charging practices for battery longevity

Anywhere in the 20-80% charge range should be more than fine for extending life. The I-MiEV's full charge is actually about 90% real SoC (4.1 volts per cell), so even allowing the car to fully charge shouldn't dramatically affect battery longevity (though sitting there for extended periods may). On ...
