Re: Battery Capacity Testing

According to the Yuasa tech report that I quoted in an earlier post, temperature should affect the capacity of the battery. Based on measurements on a new LEV50 cell Yuasa would expect the capacity to decrease from the nominal value of 50 Ah at about 30oC to 47.6 Ah at 0oC. However there is little o...

Re: Canion

Over the years I used CanIon, I ended up with 13 different SQLite databases. Some contained overlapping data which made it difficult to track when and how much data I had collected. To do the data analysis shown elsewhere on this forum I had to bring this data together in one consistent DB on my PC....

Re: Battery Capacity Testing

Here is a reproduction of figure 8 from the Yuasa Tech Report 2012. It shows the storage degradation for the LEV50N cell. I had to modify the original figure quite a bit in order to make it look like the similar figure for the LEV50 shown in a post above. For this reason, I’m not as sure of the numb...

Re: Battery Capacity Testing

Here is the graph from the Yuasa Tech Report 2012 showing the effect of temperature on the capacity of the LEV50N cell. https://i.ibb.co/ZWbc6XC/LEV50-N-temperature-graph-with-caption-1.jpg The next figure is the same one as figure 4 in the post above this time with the capacities for the LEV50N add...

Re: Battery Capacity Testing

In the post above I showed that the higher the temperature the faster the degradation. However temperature also has an immediate effect on capacity in the opposite direction, the higher the temperature the greater the capacity. I have tried to find this relationship in my data without success. This ...

Re: Battery Capacity Testing

In my previous analysis of data from our CZero I did not take the storage degradation of the battery into account. In the 2008 Yuasa technical report on the LEV50 cell figure 8 shows Yuasa’s measurements of this degradation. With some minor modifications I’ve reproduced this figure here. https://i.i...

Re: Decyphering iMiEV and iON CAR-CAN message data

You are right Serhge. This is an error in the presentation. The battery contains 22 blocks of 4 cells. The blocks are arranged in 12 modules, 10 with 2 blocks and 2 with one block each. The temperature sensors are between cells in each block. That means 66 temperature readings for 88 cells. I just r...

How good is the car's range prediction

https://i.ibb.co/G0RbdNG/True-Distance-Error.jpg This graph shows the error in the rest or remaining range (RR) predicted by the car. Each dot is a "trip" consisting of continuous data. I found them by dividing my recorded data into trips in which the largest change in the odometer (odo) ...

Re: Battery Capacity Testing

https://i.ibb.co/0tnrbFd/German-Data1.jpg The black dots in the graph above are battery capacities for 44 German owned iMiev/CZero/iOns collected by datom. There is a link in his post above. The green curve is my model (Ah = 50.4 -1.14*ln(km)) for battery aging discussed in an earlier post. It look...
