Re: Larger capacity battery replacement (20+kwh?!?)

Hi 2006Corolla, you came to the right place to ask. First off, this particular car with DCQC and a brand-new battery pack is very desirable. I personally agree with you about the color as my very first car (an Austin Healey 3000) was black and I swore I would never again get a black car. Personal pr...

Re: Problem Charging but it isn't the battery

Hi tonymil, sorry to hear. I understand the "Oh-Oh" aspect of this and the desire to bail. Kia Soul EV is nice, and I'm surprised it never became more popular. Before you leave us, could you describe better the issue - I take it that this was a change in what had been a daily routine for y...

Re: Meet The Black Adder

Hey Jay, nice addition to the family, and good that you have your dad onboard. Very appropriate name! Hope your mom likes black... Just out of curiosity, have you by any chance made a battery capacity measurement? At this stage of their lives, my impression is that 'normal' for a 2012 with around 40...

adam, congratulations, and thank you for posting the screenshots.

So, the old battery still had a capacity of 38.4Ah.

Burning question: what is the capacity of the 'new' replacement battery?

Re: Not Charging. Main Inverter Fuse blown

iDriver, sorry to hear, and I'm sorry you don't have a backup vehicle to use while you scrounge around for a cost-effective solution. The horrible replacement cost of the MCU, just as the cost of the air conditioning compressor, puts into serious jeopardy the viability of our i-MiEVs in the long run...

Re: Hatched a Tesla

One of the really nice aspects of crossing the country is the ability to meet with members of this forum - face-to-face after years of corresponding! Who we didn't get a chance to visit - Last year on our Tesla trip to Key West we met with forum moderator Don and his wife in Biloxi, Mississippi. For...

Re: 240V Charging and Extension cables (Amazing-E)

Dryers are usually plugged into 30A circuits. Old dryer outlets were NEMA 10-30 and new dryer outlets are now NEMA 14-30. Ovens and RVs nowadays utilize NEMA 14-50, which is the outlet I would install for EV use if at all possible. I once tried to install 14-50 in a garage and made the mistake of te...

Re: 3-Wheel Battery-Electric Vehicles

$10K Sondor: https://electrek.co/2017/12/01/sondors-3-wheel-10000-dollar-ev/ Ambitious and I wish them well. My preference for electric vehicles is front wheel drive so that regeneration can be maximized (a light rear end will prematurely lock up the rear wheel(s) with heavy regen). Aptera realized ...

Re: Tesla-J1772 Adapter

What we're talking about is the ability to convert a Tesla EVSE into a J1772 power source. Still no news about Tony Williams' $200 product, despite numerous ads still popping up. In the meantime, here's an expensive ($400) equivalent: http://shop.quickchargepower.com/JDapter-Stub-Tesla-Charge-Statio...

Re: Traction battery going bad or something else?

RobbW, thank you for the update. So far, Mitsubishi has been very good about replacing battery packs which exhibit the problem you're experiencing. To me it's unclear whether that single cell problem is a defective cell (most probably) or the BMS as it applies to that cell. For Mitsu, it is an expen...
