Re: 97 miles on single charge with 2012 Mitsubishi iMiEV (US model)

Aerowhatt, I completely agree with you and practice what you preach when I'm aiming to extend the i-MiEV's range (and a carryover from my Gen1 Insight practice). Popping the car into N when coming down every little bump in the road is such a habit that I reflexively do it all the time even if I'm no...

Re: Global Warming's Terrifying New Math

10 minute charge is way more likely, only requiring 1,200 amps or 450 kW. I'd hate to lug that cable. Is that really needed, as that's still faster than the time it takes to go to the bathroom and then grab a cup of coffee? For example, starting from a low SoC in the Tesla M3, one can presently pum...

Re: Public Charging Station Customers

This week my wife took the Tesla again up to Oregon and I unexpectedly had a series of longer local trips which necessitated multiple DCQC charges. I had made the mistake of leaving my wife's i-MiEV at five bars with it's 12v on a float charger, making it essentially unusable. I now leave my wife's ...

Re: Shore Trip

...I just went out to move the car out of the EV spot and I had a 96! So I'm all set and have 7.5 miles to spare! Is 96 the highest it reads? RR=96 is an excellent number! Over on the Maximum Range Remaining thread a forum member from Portugal (Malm) claims the maximum reading obtainable is 109 mil...

Re: Shore Trip

This is fun. Hypermiling is an acquired skill that occasionally proves to be very useful so it's good to have practiced it and understand it well. Reality is, in my case, I nowadays rarely employ it as it's not too often that I'm pushing the car's range limits without being able to stop for a charg...

Re: Shore Trip

Nice exploratory trip to see how you fare. 10 Mick Dr, Glassboro, NJ 08028 on plugshare. = https://www.plugshare.com/location/138070 using PlugShare's Share Link URL for that location. RV parks use NEMA 14-50, so if you have a 14-30 dryer adapter with the Neutral leg cut off, that will work. Use RVP...

Re: Best charging practices for battery longevity

Found the results of a recent study over on the mychevybolt.com forum, showing that simply delaying charging until just before leaving ("As Late As Possible") can double battery life compared with frequent and full recharging. Here's their thread: http://www.mychevybolt.com/forum/viewtopic...

Re: Shore Trip

To demonstrate your hypermiling skills and gather confidence in your abilities, how about posting a photo of your full-charge RR>90 . For example: http://www.katiekat.net/Vehicles/Mitsi/MitsiRR96.jpg bradleydavidgood777, Don and I have given you a couple of options (challenges?) to quantitatively p...

Re: Shore Trip

Study the graph below (created by jumpjack) to get an idea of what you might optimally be able to do. Takes self-discipline to always featherfoot and travel well below the speed limit for the entire trip. It's nice that you can travel the side roads and not the Interstate. https://autoguida.files.wo...

Re: Shore Trip

Don't even think of it, as one-way 88.5 miles will damage your psyche. :) Check PlugShare, as you have a number of charging spots to help you out along the way. There's only one CHAdeMO (at a Nissan dealer), so plan on this being a half-day trip. Do you have the appropriate charging cards?
