Re: Charging Down Route 66

Good Morning! Day 6 begins in Litchfield IL.Charging L1 just outside Hotel. Will top up L2 at Victory Lane Ford. Already have 53RR. Edwardsville DCQC is 30 miles south. Clear and sunny. 31 degrees. Rick, time to start thinking about time optimization - for example, no reason to stop by the Ford dea...

Re: Charging Down Route 66

Looking good! You sure have a lot of charging stations along the way, so far. Nice that you're adding comments on PlugShare. If you find a friendly and reasonable-cost RV park that isn't listed on PlugShare you can add it yourself. I started a Google spreadsheet to keep track of some data. Here's th...

Re: Mechanical Timer for Charging?

Nick, the photo of the European Panasonic EVSE nameplate shows a maximum current that the EVSE could pass-through, which is 16A. The i-MiEV undoubtedly draws less. Which country are you in? You might consider updating your profile: How To Let Us Know Where You Are Located The two-prong connector you...

Re: New York Times cameo 3-11-17

A year later, he bought Mitsubishi’s i-MiEV electric car for his wife, again using federal and state incentives. (But his wife, who declared the Mitsubishi car ugly, now drives the Leaf, leaving him to make his 52-mile round-trip daily commute in the i-MiEV.) Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - ...

Re: Mechanical Timer for Charging?

TIMER The key parameter to watch out for is the amount of current that can be switched. In this case, the only parameter listed is "6. Power supply: 220-240V/50Hz max. 3500W" . Our North American i-MiEVs only draw around 3100W and presumably your European version has a similar upper limit...

Re: "Tire Repair Kit" profiteering!

Before setting off on my cross-country trip in the Tesla last year (which also has no spare tire) I also settled on a tire plug kit and pump, hoping that my flat tire would be caused by a nail that I could pull out and replace with a plug without taking the wheel off the car - if I was in an isolate...

Re: Charging Down Route 66

Rick, thanks for keeping us up-to-date. I started trying to keep track of your predicted vs. actual mileage and was wondering if you could post your odometer reading or actual mileage covered at the end of each day? Can you go back and post that for day #3 and day #4? It should result in an interest...

Re: My Car is Only Charging Up to 12 Bars

Completely agree with Don's posting. 9h1bw, whereabouts are you located and how much RR data do you have for cold weather / rain / slush / snow / adverse wind / driving? If you're in the northern hemisphere, wait a few months for the weather to warm up and see what happens. To this day I defy anyone...

Re: Charging Down Route 66

Off to a good start! Yes, our experience with EVgo is that they are horribly expensive (if you don't sign up for their monthly plan), but I've found them to be very reliable. Presumably this is the charging station in Berwyn: https://api.plugshare.com/view/location/5256 For those of you trying to tr...

That would certainly work and all you need to do is provide a link to that website.

You should be off by now - Godspeed, warm weather, and tailwinds.
