Re: Maximum Miles Driven on One Charge

...So this is a new max for me with kiev2. It was too dark, wet, cold and windy for me to want to try for more even if only around the block a dozen times... 63.3miles in the middle of winter, even in the Heart of Dixie, +2milesRR = 65.3miles with photographic evidence. Good 'on ya, as the Aussies ...

Re: 12 kW chademo charging

Yes Joe, the Sunny Island was based on 48V, but the new model will support packs anywhere between actual voltages of 100 and 600 VDC. Our 360V pack is right in the middle. Here's the spec sheet. http://files.sma.de/dl/30859/SBS3.8-5.0-6.0-US-DUS173415W.pdf "Full backup functionality will also ...

Re: 12 kW chademo charging

360 VDC input is pretty common in the solar inverter world, with maximum ratings of 420 VDC on both of my string inverters. A regular string inverter may be able to be tricked into starting up via a small pure sine wave inverter such as a UPS, which would have to continue running as a reference sig...

Re: Future of Public EV Charging

Pertinent to this discussion, here's the latest from ChargePoint (I didn't quite understand who their target audience is for this presentation): http://info.chargepoint.com/rs/079-WYC-990/images/2017_ChargePoint_Charging_Forward_Report.pdf One thing I'm belatedly beginning to realize is that multi-u...

Re: Future of Public EV Charging

Demand charges are hideous - for example, PG&E's demand rate is $18.64 per kWh (that's right, NOT 18¢/kWh!), and as I understand it this then lasts through the entire billing cycle. tsk, tsk, Joe- probly a typo, but I'll take you to task for perpetuating some of the misunderstandings around dem...

Re: Future of Public EV Charging

...For 90% or so of average needs a car with 100 or so miles of range can pretty much do what you need. Make it small and nimble, easy to park, easy to get into and out of and add the ability to fold down seats so you can carry a good bit of cargo when needed and you've pretty much got it all . . ....

Re: 5 Year Ownership Review

Nothing about this car is focused on status or egocentricity, it's purely pragmatic and does what it's designed to do very well, move people and goods from point A to point B. I don't believe there is any other car out there that has such an "every-day use" focus on design. That sums up m...

I found this EVgo analysis pertinent to this discussion, with DCQC issues from the supplier's point of view - https://d231jw5ce53gcq.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/eLab_EVgo_Fleet_and_Tariff_Analysis_2017.pdf Demand charges are hideous - for example, PG&E's demand rate is $18.64 per k...

Re: 12 Volt Source Behind Glovebox??

Backup camera or dashcam? I'm running a dashcam and GPS and Android tablet and some USB ports off a multi-port set of outlets, all plugged into that poor 'cigarette lighter' outlet. Ugly, but it works. Alternatively, pick up power from the fusebox (above driver's left foot) with a fuse tap?

Re: 12 kW chademo charging

So, the question on the table is what inverter can use the 320vdc-360vdc input range of the i-MiEV battery pack and produce 240vac/120vac without having to sync up to an external 60Hz source ? I came across this thing in my saved links and couldn't help but wonder if it might not be suitable, but I...
