Re: Back-In Parking

Interesting Florida law about that - good thing I didn't get a ticket when I backed my Tesla into the Superchargers during last year's trip (I have no front license plate on that car either, which is illegal in California). :o Hmm, now that I think about it, many (if not most) of our parking lot spa...

Re: solar on the car roof

...If the solar panels added to the Cd by even 5% or so, it would probably be a net loss - You'd lose more range by increasing the drag than you would gain. An important point, often overlooked! If you google "flexible solar panels" you'll see a whole bunch of 100W panels (one of which mi...

Re: Alternative 12V Aux battery options

Totally agree with Don regarding aluminum corrosion, and I've extensively used flattened copper pipes for hooking up batteries. Here are a couple of links to brass terminal adapters of the type I've used in the past (randomly found on the Web): https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?Re...

Re: Charging Down Route 66

Munger Moss Motel is in Lebanon, Missouri. About 19 miles miles ahead of scheduled Hazelgreen. Trip data spreadsheet updated. Rick and Selinda, don't forget to smell the roses and experience some of the wonderful aspects of Americana. Oh, and be sure to walk at least a couple of miles each day. :geek:

Re: 2012 SE Won't Arm

veimi, sounds as though you finally woke up your i-MiEV successfully. Whew! Lessons learned: 1. When storing the car, always keep a float charger (NOT old-fashioned unregulated trickle charger) attached to the 12v battery, especially in cold weather. 2. Storing the car at 100% charge is not recommen...

Re: Let the Hacking Begin

DBMandrake, welcome to the forum and thank you for your post. Our North American versions also operate just as you described. Originally, I was not bothered too much by the creep 'feature', but after driving the Tesla (set to disable creep) I now fall into the camp of those not liking it. Getting ri...

Re: Mechanical Timer for Charging?

I am not sure if here in Europe the charger is the same with the one at US. Is there any way to count how many amps my car draws ? Get a European version of a KILL-A-WATT meter, or its equivalent. Just make sure the meter can handle at least 16A (US 120vac versions cannot): http://www.p3internation...

Recently in the news. Perhaps backing into the parking space would have helped in this instance...

Re: Charging Down Route 66

Calling it close, but you could've very likely made it without the opportunity charge... Perhaps, but Rick did the right thing to stop for 1/2 hour and briefly charge. There's a big difference between taking a chance in one's own home territory and being out on the road in a 'foreign land'. A conse...

Re: Charging Down Route 66

So i have concluded that wind is my main adversary on this trip. Yup, and it'll get worse as you continue across the Plains (but coming back it'll be great!). If you're going 40mph and have a 25mph headwind, aerodynamically the car thinks you're going 65mph. Sucks the juice right out of your i-MiEV...
