Re: Regen vs Neutral and speed for max range

In case anyone is interested in further beating this topic to death, I came across these two applicable threads over on the Tesla TMC forum - https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/does-the-way-you-regen-make-any-difference-to-the-amount-of-charging-done.133056/ https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/thre...

jray3, thanks for that. Yes, the i-MiEV is still alive and kicking in its various incarnations -

Re: Bay Area to Lake Tahoe Excursion

Spurred on by Aerowhatt's great graphics, I'm slowly trying to integrate both the GPS track data and the various consumption numbers (many missing due to both Android power loss and Bluetooth dropout issues). In the meantime, I did manage to salvage and extract my GPS track off the Garmin, the orang...

EPA Range Numbers

Another article desribing EPA's methodology whereby they run a series of very rigorous dynamometer tests and then *arbitrarily* reduce the final range number by 30%. This article didn't discuss how they compensate for different different vehicle aerodynamic characteristics. https://insideevs.com/ev-...

Re: Regen vs Neutral and speed for max range

Aerowhatt, that is excellent and cohesive information, beautifully supporting your case! I wish I had your discipline in taking those CaniOn snapshots, and seeing your graph just reminded me to download my Tahoe trip Garmin GPS .gpx files. A couple of procedural questions: 1. Do you push the button ...

Re: Regen vs Neutral and speed for max range

Aerowhatt, I am saddened by the vehemence in your remarks because, like the man in the movie said, "what we have here is a failure to communicate". Here's where we agree: on any downhill, be it a 5000-ft mountain drop or the backside of a highway overpass, judiciously alternating between N...

Re: Regen vs Neutral and speed for max range

b) All other constraints aside , arriving a the bottom of the hill while continuously regenerating will result in a higher battery State of Charge than coasting down the hill exclusively in Neutral; ergo, in ideal conditions, I contend that we can go further regenerating instead of coasting in N. I...

Re: Regen vs Neutral and speed for max range

bradleydavidgood777, you need to be very careful when using numbers, especially after your previous criticism of using them (in a post which I had found very offensive and caused me to subsequently delete the pre-Tahoe trip data-gathering thread I had started). For example, this statement is flat-ou...

Re: Regen vs Neutral and speed for max range

Hi, sending this from Portland Oregon... Aerowhatt, thanks so much for responding - I really do value your informed opinions. As I see it there are three elements to this discussion - a) Putting the car in Neutral vs. "zero-consumption" accelerator pedal position while in D or E or B b) Go...
