Re: 240V Charging and Extension cables (Amazing-E)

Cool, now you can cut off that Neutral pin and use your Amazing E in either 14-30 or 14-50 (or 14-60 if you ever see one). That's what this one does:

Re: Been hangin' around

zephod, welcome to the forum and it's nice to have another i-MiEV owner in the Bay Area. I think that i-MiEV in Salinas had been on-again and off-again at the dealership for quite a while, with the salespeople not really wanting to sell it because they were having too much fun driving it themselves....

Re: Fuel costs

Boy, do I love my PV solar! Just out of curiosity, I checked my latest Pacific Gas and Electric E-6 Rate schedule. In addition to different TOU Peak, Part-Peak, and Off-Peak rates we've had a Tier reduction down to two levels: "Baseline" and "Over 100% of Baseline". Baseline usag...

Re: 240V Charging and Extension cables (Amazing-E)

. . . . but I don't have an extension cord laying on a public sidewalk. Aaah yes, but I think he does a nice job of covering that cord crossing the sidewalk. I carry these collapsible cones in my cars and do occasionally use them on unprotected charging cables. https://www.harborfreight.com/collaps...

Re: Pics: New '17/18 interior, 2DIN and paddles (!)

How can I get one? 8-) A/C during charging, nicer looking interior, and regen paddles were all on my wish list. ... and a shorter narrower car for squeezing into more places. Unfortunately, public perception is that our 16kWh battery packs are becoming dinosaurs - lots of truth to that for any trip...

Re: 240V Charging and Extension cables (Amazing-E)

bradleydavidgood777, a lot of ideas running around in the last few days. Leave you to your own devices with perhaps a few thought - 1. Not having a well-grounded input panel is disconcerting. I'd be inclined to have the electrician have a look at this as there must have been a ground there somewhere...

Re: 240V Charging and Extension cables (Amazing-E)

Edit: To put the Neutral pin on the Amazing-E discussion to bed, why don't you buy a couple of connectors (10-30P and 14-50R) and make a jumper cable and simply plug the Amazing-E into your dryer outlet? Some of the 14-50 receptacles I've purchased are configurable to accept either 14-50 or 14-30. ...

Re: 240V Charging and Extension cables (Amazing-E)

You actually did a pretty good job of describing your situation, but the video adds depth to your dilemma. My preference would be to add a couple of small 20A circuit breakers at your input panel, run a conduit across the basement, bring the power out through the brick wall, and if you're ambitious ...

Re: Problem With Putting Car Into Park

veimi, good question. I'm not aware of any sensor on that pawl (actually, properly should be called a sprag) which detects engagement. I'm pretty sure that it does not necessarily engage on the level, as my procedure is to pull the hand brake and then put it into Park. This avoids the slight car mov...

Re: 240V Charging and Extension cables (Amazing-E)

...So the EVSE has to plug into a connector that is right by the car on the end of a cord and waterproof. I have 2 10 gauge 120V cords now. 50 foot and 100 foot. I could use one of those for the new configuration if I replace the connectors...the question is - with what? Because I have not found a ...
